This week's Best of III, a fighting game news broadcast that focuses on the eSports side of the community, dove into some pretty bold waters as host Efren Salinas asked the question: Which games have a shot at supplanting Street Fighter 5 as the FGC's main focus?
Seeing as King of Fighters 14 dropped this week, the discussion kicked off with new SNK title, but moved right along to investigate the potential in fighters like Injustice 2, Tekken 7 and others.
This discussion fit nicely into the "Block or Grab" segment, wherein each member of the panel gets to quickly offer their opinion and brief explanation thereof for each game in question, and made for some colorful discussion.
We also get to see Mike "Danke" Schiller delve into KOF 14, are updated on the current Capcom Pro Tour standings and more.
The Block or Grab segment begins around the 41:30 mark.

Thought on Block/Grab: In terms of spotlight or throne of FGC (at least in US), KOFXIV isn't likely to dethrone SFV. I think the majority of FGC mainly cares just about SF & Capcom, regardless of decisions & quality.
Did Velociraptor know is that KOFXIV has 1v1 mode alongside 3v3, while SFV doesn't have a Team Battle. Did you know whats also 3v3, MVC2-UMVC3. What does that have to with having getting more people playing? Unless many people were living under a rock (maybe not use to seeing other content if all you see in fighting game is just SF arcades & newer titles) or just isn't a Team player when you have to learn multiple characters.
"When you see this..." moving his finger left & right "Is that entertaining? No, 2D things on a 2D plain who cares about that. But look what about this..." moving his finger back & forward "Now that, that is cool"
LOL What year are we in, 1995 or something? That seriously sounds like a time when video games are jumping from 2D to 3D, where fighting games aren't just moving in 2 Dimensions.
"And I was watching a Tekken 7 Stream the other day for the first time, you can move into the background and in the foreground in that game"
Wow your witnessing 3D fighting games for the first time, must've been living under a rock or was just born yesterday. The stuff he said *laughing*, I can't just help but laugh the choice of words.
"You don't even have stage transition in SFV, its not going to keep its head above water"
There could've been some stage transitions in SFV like that China streets (that reminded of The Crimson Bottom Level in DOA2), if the developers made more stages like The China Stage that was seen since its announcement or they've could've take some examples from Injustice or borrow some elements from DOA.
In terms of playing as Young Kazuya, the only thing is if he is only accessable to Story Mode (where only ways to play outside of that mode is to mod the game) or is something you can play as in other modes when you complete something? Yea #VideogameChildAbuse LOL
In terms of Injustice 2 Gear System, its more like SCIV & Lost Swords along with Tekken 6 Scenario Campaign where depending on what gear the character is wearing it has different stat effects even if the end results might make the character look ridicious, but you have a completely powered up character. It functions like RPG, which will would be an immeditate worry or avoid than SFXT gems which only active by requirements and only had 3 slots.

That's a shame that a game like SF will be played mindlessly regardless of quality. This is why we keep getting bad quality.
