SNK developing “many new fighting games,” unsure on DLC and updates for The King of Fighters XIV
“Many new fighting games” are in development at SNK, The King of Fighters XIV producer Yasuyki Oda told IGN Latin America in an interview.
“We’re developing many new fighting games that we cannot announce yet, but we’d like you to stay tuned,” Oda told IGN.
While Oda did not hint at which titles SNK is developing, earlier in the interview he said they are “always considering” making new entries in series such as Fatal Fury or Art of Fighting, but “the problem is the company’s approval for we to make it, there are a lot of people to convince, which is very difficult, but of course it’s something we’d like to do (laugh).”
Oda also said “there is nothing planned” for an enhanced version of The King of Fighters XIII, which was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
As for the future of The King of Fighters XIV, Oda said, “We are still not sure if we will have more downloadable content or patches, but when we released new characters in April, and the fans’ reception was very good, so if we were to make extra content, we would like them to be new characters rather than new costumes because it’s what fans like the most.”
Regarding whether there will be a new King of Fighters game or more updates to The King of Fighters XIV, Oda said, “For the moment we can not confirm or deny either of these two possibilities, but we are convinced that The King of Fighters XV will be a reality. At the moment we are not sure if there will be a new patch for The King of Fighters XIV, but it is definitely a possibility.”

NEO GEO Battle Coliseum 2 rumored to be in development at SNK While The King of Fighters series is SNK’s main crossover fighting game series, it also has another series that brings even more franchises together — NEO GEO Battle Coliseum. Released in 2005, NGBC brought together numerous characters from various NEO GEO games — some that wouldn’t necessarily fit within The King of Fighters series — in a tag team fighting game. Now, if rumors are correct, SNK may be set to revisit NEO GEO Battle Coliseum. In story by KoF World — based on a rumor first posted on our own forums — it has been reported that SNK’s next fighting game project is NEO GEO Battle Coliseum 2. The details are based on a series of photos shared online, which provide some details on the game. imgur.com/gallery/5CArBIf the rumors are correct, then NEO GEO Battle Coliseum 2 will use cel-shading, similar to Arc System Works’ recent efforts. Certain characters, such as Geese Howard, Nakoruru, and Iori will supposedly have activation supers that will transform them into their alternate incarnations (Nightmare Geese, Rera, and Riot of Blood Iori respectively). Meanwhile, certain other characters such as Ralph, Clark, and Athena will appear wearing costumes based on their original games, instead of their modern KoF designs. Source: shoryuken

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy Written By: Nyu Nozomi Hyuga There was some rumor that SNK were going to do a Neo Geo Battle Coliseum 2 where we can see KOF cast crossing over with more SNK games that weren't featured in KOF, well... were definitely getting an SNK crossover but its going to be an all-female cast. Get a load of this: Now what you see here is from the Japanese Nintendo Direct Mini where we get to see some of our gals in skimpy outfits (Kula, Leona, & Mai) along with a customization system that showed off Athena (Psycho Solider) wearing a bikini from Athena (Athena), but heres what the West showed off the less skimpy version: Yeah... you see the girls in their default (except Athena & Yuri) and customization only shows off Yuri in her new costume & old costume. Before I get into the difference between the two trailers, lets see what the game has to offer. First up here is bit of description from gematsu: About Play online or with friends as SNK’s iconic heroines in the brand-new two-versus-two fighting game, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy! Activate Special Moves with a single button, and make use of special items to change the tide of battle! However, the fight isn’t over the moment you’ve chipped enough health away. Once your opponent is on the ropes, utilize your Dream Finish technique to win the match! Spectate on other battles online, and wage on who you think will win using in-game points. Use your winnings to buy voice clips and accessories in an all-new costume system, and customize your favorite heroine to your heart’s content! Key Features Assemble Your Heroines and Battle Head-to-Head – A brand new tag battle action fighting game is here! Players can participate in a four-multiplayer frenzy online or with friends! An Iconic Cast of SNK’s Female Characters! – Choose from a generous roster of female heroines from the SNK universe! Defeat Foes With Style and Elegance – Coordination is key, as players can choose from up to 100 different accessories for their characters. Accessories including cat ears, glasses, face paint, and new sound effects. SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy will be available Switch & PS4. Art of Fighting 2 now available on Nintendo Switch; The King of Fighters ’98 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
Fans of the present-gen ports of classic SNK games can rejoice at a couple new additions to the family. The Art of Fighting 2 is currently available for the Nintendo Switch, and The King of Fighters ’98 has been ported to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Art of Fighting 2 was released for Xbox One back in June of last year, and it looks like the Nintendo Switch’s catalog of NEO GEO fighters already rivals that of the Microsoft console’s healthy collection. In regard to the The King of Fighters ’98 port, it is important to note that it is the original arcade version, not the Ultimate Match that has the extend roster and is currently popular for its online match support on PC.
Still, if you would like to pick it up for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One — or The Art of Fighting 2 up on the Nintendo Switch — ports of these classic titles are now available for reasonable prices on their respective consoles’ online stores.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy won't be censored and Nakoruru conformed Written By: Nyu Nozomi Hyuga When SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy made its debut on Nintendo Direct we saw 2 different trailers where Japanese trailer showed us skimpy girls another trailer only showed us default costumes. The different trailers was due to different market strategies especially the western version was from Nintendo of America. NIS America did make a tweet that nothing will be changed for western release: In other news we have a new trailer for SNK Heroines which is the EVO Japan Trailer which shows off more skimpy girls even the English Trailer shows off the girls like the Japanese (unlike Nintendo Direct): We have another SNK girl added Nakoruru here is description from gematsu: The divine spirit of nature, Nakoruru, makes her SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy debut! Originally appearing in arcade-favorite Samurai Shodown in 1993, this defender of nature most recently appeared as part of the Another World Team in 2016’s The King of Fighters XIV. With her lightning-quick attacks and loyal bird companion, Mamahama, she is looking to bring her brand of 18th century beatdown in SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy! New trailer releases for SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy showing off alternate costumes, character select screen and more A new trailer and gameplay footage dropped for the crossover fighting game SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy featuring new costumes for the fan-favorite ladies including the obvious swimwear and even some farm gear that can be customized. GameSpot's YouTube channel also put up a new video showing off 4 minutes of new gameplay for the fighter. The costume trailer, via Playstation, boasts the return of the "classic King of Fighters style," classic costumes, brand new styles, and customization for the game. The new gameplay footage shows the new outfits in action including a ballerina-like costume for Kula, bikini attire for Athena, cat accessories for Leona, genie-esque Nakoruru, and more. The character select screen also makes an appearance in the second video in the shape of a giant heart with the six announced character portraits in diamonds surrounded by empty spaces. Based on what we see, if all of those complete boxes will be filled by a character slot, the game could feature up to a 29 character roster though this cannot be confirmed. www.eventhubs.com/imagegallery/2018/feb/10/snk-heroines-alt-costumes/1/Source: eventhubs

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy’s Story Mode Will Offer Different Dialogue Depending on Heroine Pairing
Recently SNK revealed their upcoming 2.5D fighting game SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The game will feature notable characters from the SNK library of female characters in a 2 vs 2 tournament-style fighting game.
With the game having been announced just recently, little is known about the modes that will be offered. DualShockers had the chance to sit down with producer Yasuyuki Oda and designer Kaito Soranaka to learn about the game’s Story Mode. Oda-san confirmed that a story mode will be included and that it’ll offer different dialogue depending on the pair of heroines you select.
“There will be a Story Mode offered in the game, but depending on the characters you chose, the conversations will change.”
For example, the Story between Mai and Nakoruru will be different than the story between Mai and Yuri.
At the moment of this writing, only six characters have been announced but even just with those, the possible story outcomes are already rather large. However, it remains to be seen if these stories will carry any weight behind them or if they will stick to the lighthearted tone shared with the game’s theme.
SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy has players choose two characters to take with them into a fight. During gameplay, they’ll be able to switch the heroines with the press of a button to extend combos or unleash powerful finishing moves. Coincidentally, connecting a finishing move is the only way to end the battle.

Alex Valle interviewing NIS America representative Travis Shrodes
For those who may not have time to watch the whole thing, here are some notes from the interview:
SNK wants to make a more approachable The King of Fighters, hence the simplified control scheme and auto-combos. However, auto-combos are not the most optimal way to play. The game has 1-button supers. They were mapped to R1 in the build shown (PlayStation 4 version). You can tag mid-combo by pressing R2. Items (which are mapped to the right analog stick) can be turned off. There are 20 items in the game. Fights are 1 round only. The game supports 4-player local play on the same console. There are no sweeps. Hard knockdowns can only come from throws. Guard breaks are in the game. Players can get stunned if they’re hit while their health bar is flashing at 10% life. The game will have a story mode. The game could possibly have a guest character from another fighting game franchise. SNK is aware that fans want Miss X (the cross-dressing Iori from SNK Gals’ Fighters)
In addition to these, they also announced that the game will be at PAX East on April 6, and that they will reveal a character there.

Wow. They certainly made Kula skimpier. Haha.
The game is turning out to have a decent amount of content though.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Samurai Spirits Teaser Trailer www.eventhubs.com/imagegallery/2018/sep/10/samurai-spirits-high-res/1/"Samurai Spirits" has been announced by SNK. This appears to be a sequel or spiritual successor to Samurai Shodown. This also could be a reboot of the series. The countdown timer on SNK's website has expired. As expected, this is a fighting game as most of SNK's intellectual properties exist within this genre. Fighters are now rendered as 3-dimensional models rather than sprites. We can clearly see that this game is using the Unreal Engine in the Samurai Spirits website and at the beginning of the trailer. Samurai Shodown was originally released in 1993. Since then, the series has had many sequels and spin-offs. In Japan, the series was always known as "Samurai Spirits." Characters spotted include Haohmaru, Jubei, Galford, Nakoruru, and Earthquake. It's worth noting that this game does not appear to be afraid of showing uncensored blood. This game is slated for a 2019 release. The game's setting will apparently take place in 1787, the 7th year of the Tenmei era. As of right now, we do not know which consoles this game will appear on, though it's safe to assume that the PlayStation 4 is one of the systems as this trailer was revealed at the PlayStation Lineup Tour. At the very end of the trailer, the words "stay tuned for more" were shown. We'll have to wait for more information. Nyu: Yes I was right about Samurai Shodown making a return.
