Plus I don't think the problem is the platform. Facebook and Reddit, for example, are great platforms technologically wise with respects to what you can do. It's just debating in general just tends to go one very predictable way if you know what I mean lol

It gets the job done but I don't like the way the comments flood in and you end up quoting underneath one another. It's okay for quick discussions but I don't like it for serious stuff. I also don't like the bandwagon mentality those sites have either.
That said, I agree. People don't think logically. They have a premise in their head automatically and then just try to rationalize it and call that debating.

I prefer this system for longer discussions. Some discussions can take months or even years and that system is ill suited for it. It also promotes dick stroking since people just bandwagon each other. It's okay for short stuff though.
