When browsing around the net I saw bit of a glimpse of a specific movie, that when looking closely which is another movie based off of a video game franchise. Which this movie will be based off 3 monsters destroying buildings called Rampage, which is being produced by 4 people named Beau Flynn, John Rickard, Brad Peyton and Hiram Garcia. With our main actor Dwayne Johnson playing as an Primatologist Davis Okoye who was taking care of a silverback gorilla George, which got infected due to a radioactive capsule and the gorilla is being experimented on which eventually cause destruction on citys along with a Wolf (Ralph) & Crocodile (Lizzie). Here is the trailer:
I honestly didn't expect something like this to become the movie, does look interesting which would be something I may plan on seeing when its available in theaters. Would be interested on how a simple story involves experiment screw ups and monsters destroying buildings plays out.

It might be good, the rock is in it and he tends to be entertaining on-screen.

They seem to be focusing on Rock's relationship with George. I wonder if Lizzie and Ralph will be just villains to take down or more sympathetic.

I saw Rampage, something I didn't expect something like this getting adapted into the big screen. Rampage movie is based off the 1986 arcade game where our main characters are giant monsters from George, Ralph, & Lizzie destroying buildings, and eating people. Heres what I've seen from how the movie did with its source material:
It began from a space station where every humans in the station was all dead except for one female crew reminding HQ that everyone is dead and wanting to get to the capsule. However HQ didn't want her to leave until she collect their experiments (which will be dealing with a rat). Which she got the stuff HQ wants, and trying to escape from the Monster Rat. The female manage to escape the space station but didn't survived since the rat left cracks on the window of the capsule, which the capsules and experiments were plumbing to the earth (which will cause problems for humanity).
We start off with people going through a jungle which we see the main guy Davis Okoye who is a primatologist & head of an anti-poaching unit with groups of people you only see in the beginning of the movie, where they get to see a group of gorillas which the one gorilla was trying to be dominate with the mother & child on its back. Which Davis was trying to calm down the gorilla, which it got bit more angry chase one of their members until our Albino Silverback Gorilla George showed the gorilla whos boss. Which a bit of reminder, in the Rampage games the monsters are infected humans, but in this movie its normal animals.
Davis & George are good buddies with each, and do have funny moments with each other even George use a middle finger. While it was nighttime pieces of a capsule & experiments crash lands in earth, which the experiments sprays gas on our main monsters George, a wolf (which internet users called it Ralph), and an American Crocodile (which is suppose to be Lizzie, but the name wasn't mentioned). At Wyden company, we have our main villians responsible for the experiment mutation called Project: Rampage Brett & Claire Wyden. Brett is the whimpy corporate guy, while Claire is the mastermind for ideas. Then you also have our second main character Dr. Kate Caldwell who is the discredited genetic engineer who knows the details behind the mutation.
The movie is mainly about Davis wanting to protect his buddy George who was infected by Project: Rampage and wanting to cure him, which George starts to get furious starting to cause problems with the locals. Which Davis trying to calm him down which work bit, until government agents shooting (with sleeping darts) George which led the Gorilla was put to sleep. The only thing the government agents couldn't control was Ralph which they get torn apart.
Which Davis & Kate were taken to the government agency which we get introduction to our 3rd main character Harvey Russell who is part of the first ignorant group that has everything under control with giant monster. Which things start to go bad when our main villians decide to use their satellite which only the monsters could hear, which George starts attacking everyone on the helipad, which all 3 main characters survived. All monsters are heading to the source of the sound which will lead to the final act where we get to see our monsters destroying the cities, which is up to Davis & Kate to stop the monsters from destroying the city.
The movie mainly focus on Davis trying to taming his gorilla, and know-it-alls couldn't control the monsters (with exception of George with sleeping darts). Monsters have their action mainly attacking humans which you only see George & Ralph do, while the Crocodile doesn't have much. The good stuff mainly you see in the trailer happens at the final act.
I found the movie to be decent but nothing special, considering its based on a video game based on experiment screw ups and monsters destroying the cities. Although the movie could've been a bit longer along with more Monster action.

Yea I think the problem comes down to trying to add plot to what should be just a straight action flick. Maybe some things shouldn't be traditional movies.
An animated series might have worked though.

An animated series might have worked though. While what the movie has to offer in plot is faithful to what its based off (as I stated from when I created the post to My experience), just needed a little bit more monster action destroying buildings & eating people. Rampage materials doesn't have much plot elements compare to what came afterwards like Sonic, Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, DOA etc.

Yea it is a simple arcade game. I don't think we'd ever see a live action sonic after what happened with Mario. A CGI one would be neat though.
