I was thinking about these games. I know we've talked about old games vs new games many times but I was thinking about this particular series.
The modern games have taken a more politically correct approach by toning down the sex appeal and giving her a lot of angst. The game also has a lot more of a story feel with cutscenes and QTE's. It feels much more like a movie with buttons than a straight game like the old one felt.
How do you feel about this? What are you thoughts on this?

They tried to go for a more "realistic" approach vs the older games and their more cartoonish style. The game is pretty solid, I dunno that much about the older games vs this one. But, I do like the new games they scream "origin story" if you catch my drift.

I guess most of the complaint comes from the linear gameplay where she is less realistic as she's a one woman army vs the puzzle elements of the earlier games.

I agree with that in the sense that the puzzles aren't really that good. Even uncharted had better puzzle solving and that game is 100% linear.

What's more is that the game seems to just have them as side-pieces of content. It feels less like "Tomb Raider" and more like an action type of clone game.
That's what is turning off the old school fans from what I can see.
