The Ansatsuken School and the Kyokugenryu Dojo has been rivals for many years. Their origins came from Shotokan Karate, but have taken off in two radical directions.
Now, Takuma Sakazaki has heard enough about how Kyokugen's five levels of study (Ko-ou, Ryugeki, Raiou, Hienshippu and Shoran) cannot measure up to Ansatsuken's two distinct styles (Gouken-ryu Ansatsuken and Gotetsu-style Ansatsuken), as well as its Dark Hadou.
He calls the Ansatsuken school out for a winner-takes-all battle. It will be himself (as Mr. Karate), Ryo and Robert.
From the Ansatsuken side, it is Akuma, Ryu and Ken.
Who will be left standing?

There's something very wrong here... Regular Mr. Karate cannot hope to rival Akuma... the guy did nothing but job to Ryo.
As for Ryu and Robert vs Ryu and Ken, that one's gonna be very close, but with Karate falling very quickly to Akuma, this fight becomes a hobble legged debate very quickly.
Ansatsuken wins, Akuma FTW, since SNK couldn't find or make a better rival for him in SVC Chaos...

Which is a shame really, they could have pulled Rugal, or made Goenitz a good rival, or even make a brand new character... SNK has enough games to pull character ideas from... why'd they choose Karate?

I like the details they put into their sprites, they are animated and shaded better... but other than that, the gameplay is shit... the music is shit... the level of customisability of the game is non-existant...

I particulary like how SNK did Sagat. Now if Capcom would stop recycling most of their sprites, then the game would look a whole lot better. |

It was just an inferior game. Been reading the anime for it. Good stuff so far The anime was good, judging on the scans remy posted. Alot of the inferiority was due to lack of money to make it what they wanted, that and game balance. |

The Triple Haoshikouken... Could only be countered by Shin Akuma's Messatsu Gou Hadou or Athena's Heaven's Gate.
Oh and Serious Mr. Karate's Haoshikouken and Triple Haoshikouken was unblockable only at full charge. (Although the last hit of the last blast of the Triple was the only hit out of the move's 6 hits that was unblockable, kinda a waste there.

Shin Akuma was horribly weak in that game. It was like when Wizards of the Coast made that mewtwo card. that thing was a joke. It was a good card, because it was only a base card and it was capable of deflecting anything without the chance of failure. It could easily be used in an advanced strategy to provide defense early on. |

They are the guardians of heaven and hell respectively, they had DEVASTATING attacks thet did huge damage, had inconquerable priority, appeared out of nowhere, and some where completely unavoidable and unblockable. |
