Well, it is true that controversy incites publicity.
Thanks for the effort then.

Of course. It's the Anime Review section, not Psyquis's anime review. That's on KMC.

Nah. Only magical peoples. I started by repping Ghost Rider and then switched to Blackheart when all the Ghost Rider fan-boys started popping up and bothering me with questions and crap. Turns out I knew more about Blackheart anyway.

Anyone here seen Code Geass, by any chance? It's currently at the top of my "Anime to Finish Watching" list.

Anyone here seen Code Geass, by any chance? It's currently at the top of my "Anime to Finish Watching" list. I haven't. What is it about? Quoted from Wikipedia:On August 10th, 2010, a.t.b., the Holy Empire of Britannia overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames, in less than a month. Japan lost its freedom and rights and was renamed Area 11, and the Japanese people are renamed "Elevens" and forced to survive in ghettos, while Britannians live in first-class settlements. Rebel elements persist, however, as pockets of Japanese organizations struggle against the Empire for the independence of Japan.
After his father, the Emperor of Britannia, did nothing to pursue the terrorists who murdered his mother and crippled his sister, a young boy named Lelouch, vowed to destroy Britannia. Seven years later in Area 11, he encounters a mysterious girl who gives him the power of the Geass. With it, he finally has the power that he needs to defeat Britannia and fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister can live happily. The Geass allows Lelouch to give anyone he has eye contact with an absolute command that they perform to the best of their ability, but he can only give a person a command once in their lifetime (Geass = geas). Throughout the show, the morality of Lelouch's actions is questioned constantly both by other characters and Lelouch himself. I love watching the show partially because the protaganist is always questioning if he is still doing the right thing, but then he gets over it. One thing to look out for: in over half the episodes, Pizza Hut gets product placement. Exhibit A:

That's the "mysterious girl", who goes by the name of C.C. So far her real name has not been revealed, but it has been shown that she has told Lelouch her name. And, as I didn't post him before, here's a pic of Lelouch himself:

Currently watching a few animes: Claymore - pretty slow moving thus far. We'll see where this goes. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Wow! Lot's of fun. So far this is a blast! D Gray man - Ummm...well. I'm pretty certain that it's sense of style doesn't quite appeal to me. Oh well. Just finished: Black Lagoon - a show that glorifies violence. Ouran Host Club - When a large group of people were asked what they thought the funniest anime was this one was voted number one. What do I think? We'll see.

I've just watched Princess Mononoke (sp) and Spirited Away. Both awesome animes
And right now, I'm on ep 60 something on Monster, and I haven't been able to watch it for like a week because I haven't hooked up my computer yet. grrr...
I think garyuu's watched half the shows on your list... If he'd just show up on the forum for once... I'm glad you're enjoying Gurren Lagann btw. What episode are you on?

Spirited Away is awesome, it's been way too long since I last saw it. The rest of Miyazaki's works are supposed to be great as well.

Most of Miyazaki's work is excellent, but can be a little redundant at times.
Princess Mononoke is (IMO) his masterpiece. Spirited Away is a close second. I've reviewed...just about every one of his movies. Most of them get a 3/5 only because I felt as though it was either without strong point or it was dumbed down for children too much. Let's face it, he's actually pretty much focused on children's work. So not everything is going to be a 5/5 but when he wants to make a 5/5 he can do it.

Well, I've done it. The Psyquis Anime Review is ready to be posted however I'm just not certain about the format. Part of me wants to open a new sub-section for it in the Anime section but another part says just stick to what you know and what-not.
Any thoughts?

Yeah I bet Cordera wouldn't mind making an anime review subsection for ya. I mean the people here are quite anime oriented; I don't see how another sub-board could hurt anything. It ain't my call though. Personally, I wouldn't mind writing a few reviews myself.

So I finished Death Note last night. I have no problems admitting that the series started wonderfully: it had a solid premise, it was clever and had great characters that played off each other in ways that were both deep and interesting - the whole Kira vs. L thing was easily the most enjoyable and memorable aspect of Death Note. However, it starts losing its steam a bit before the half-way point, approximately around the 15th or 16th episode. By the time the second half of the arc has come into play, the show has turned to complete and utter shit. It quickly becomes boring and lifeless and only succeeds at making me hate the surviving characters more and more with each passing episode. Light in particular becomes so nauseating and played out that the shows dynamics grind to a fucking crawl, leaving the latter half of the series as more of an ordeal than anything. The series finale can be seen as something of a final push to extract something interesting from the writers and, due to this, the last few episodes are satisfactory but the damage has already been done.
For the first half of the series, I'd give it a 3/4. It was clever and I really enjoyed trying to figure out what would happen next as the episode went by, sort of like a good Holmes-ian detective show but more supernatural.
For the second half, a 1/4. A complete and total disappointment. I almost felt cheated out of my time. What a waste.

That's not very comforting since I'm into the 17th episode and was hoping it would get better.
Unfortunately I still have to review it. Well, I suppose I don't have to but I'm certain it would just frustrate people if I didn't.

You could always let sinistrious do it. You guys seem to have about the same opinion of it.
I just finished Monster btw... Holy Crap. They really no how to put you on the edge of your seat sometimes. The only problem was, it was lacking in action scenes. I mean, time and time again, they'd have this huge ensuing conflict. The camera would pan out, watch someone else for a while, and then come back, and all you see is the result. But seriously that was my only problem with it. Actually I watched a good 50 episodes over the course of like two or three weeks while I was at my dorm. Now I've been waiting for my comp to get hooked up with internet and since it is now, I've been able to finish it. Overall, great anime. One of it's high points I would say is how just about everyone is multidimensional and realistic. And with that, it seems like any of them would be allowed to die which makes the scenes that much more suspenseful.

Well, you're right. There really isn't any action and yet you do get that supenseful sensation irregardless.
I wouldn't mind allowing Sinistrous to partner up with me on a review section. You know... him review one and I review another.
I don't know. I should talk to him about it.

Haha, I appreciate the offer but I don't watch nearly enough of any type of television show to do that. That whole deal with Death Note was a rare case; with most shows I don't make it past the first few episodes unless I'm watching with a group. Most of that sort of time goes to watching movies instead.
I think you guys are on to something though. Here's an idea for how this could work: say that each show has its own thread in the sub-board and the first person to review it will make the thread for it. If someone else wants to write a review for the same show, they'd just add theirs to the thread. That way we could avoid clutter and keep everything easy to find. Again, just a thought - it could work and it could fail horribly.

Again, just a thought - it could work and it could fail horribly. I was wondering about that too. It's more compact to have the thread be like Psyquis's anime reviews or Dja Majista's anime reviews, but that still isn't a good way for people to find a review of a particular anime they're looking for, even if we did put an index in our first posts. It still complicates things. That and, Psyquis is the big hitter with these things anyway. As opposed to having one big ass thread, we'll have a bazillion made by him that us little people can add to whenever. So yeah, it's probably best to give all the anime's their own threads. Sure they won't be long, and sure there will probably be an absurdly large number of threads for one measily sub-board, but what the heck? I say go for it.

I think this should be done like the games review, one thread for that particular anime and people can compound their reviews and opinion on it, making it more like a discussion and more on topic and informative. Like what Sinstrous suggested.
