Ouran Host Club
Brief Synopsis – A student joins a strange club with unusual characters
Art – There really isn’t much to say on the art here. I wouldn’t call it sub-par but probably just on par.
Animation – Fair, again there’s nothing about it that’s particularly good. Just par.
Script – Now we’re getting to something this show does excel at. It has some of the most hilarious situations I’ve seen in a anime.
Character – This is where the show truly shines. The characters are some of the most entertaining and interesting I’ve seen. Very entertaining.
Music – Probably just barely above par. These shows don’t tend to excel at music but this show also did very well at keeping that from being apparent.
Grip – Very gripping. If you start odds are you’ll keep going. The show has a very romantic and at the same time charming appeal. Pair that with some incredible comedy and you’ve got the makings for a good show.
Like – I was told that this show was funnier than Azumanga Daioh. That I think is a matter of opinion and my personal opinion is that it is not; BUT it is the second funniest anime I’ve seen which is nothing to scoff at. Did I just say that? Who says, “Scoff”?
Dislikes – There were a couple of useless episodes and at least one character I found to be incredibly annoying. That’s it.
Scores:
Art – 3 Animation – 3 Script – 4.5
Character – 5 Music – 3.5 Grip – 4.5
Overall: 4/5
(Technically 3.75 or something like that but I chose to err on the optimistic)
Final Thoughts: It’s one of the few animes that have been recommended to me that I seriously enjoyed. I mean I really had fun watching this show and couldn’t wait for the next episode. The characters are so well done you’ll watch the whole show just to see them some more. This is one of those shows that have a huge closet following but the question is whether or not it’s deserving of such a fan base and in my opinion it’s a fine anime to be a fan of. There’s plenty to enjoy.
