I hope everyone here has been following politics lately. This stuff is really important. It will determine our future as we know it.

I don't think you guys realize that I'm a very persistent bastard, and I won't stop reviving my thread until I invoke a response.

Honestly, you're not the first person to ask that. It's just some REALLY impressive editing. I know, cause I watched the actual convention on TV. They had some pretty obnoxious anti-McCain people in there, but nothing like the ultimate rick roll of all time...

Well, it must have taken the person a long time to make that video.
I wouldn't mind doing something like that one day.

No, I wouldn't mind editing videos like that.
Then again, running the country might be a better idea...

running the country might be a better idea... I disagree. Editing videos sounds like a much better way to pass time.

Well, running a country is much more important than editing videos.
Then again, it depends on the country you're running...

A small country that can't defend itself if you become a dictator is a good country to run.

That doesn't make any sense.

I think he meant something similar to "a small country that can't defend itself would be a good country to run, especially if you're a dictator. "
It's true because the country wouldn't be hard to control.

Well that and they would be too weak to do anything about you for the most part. Sometimes the greatest power comes from the smallest areas in a sense.

You mean the people would be too weak to stop you? I don't think that's necessarily true.
Japan is a small area, I'll give you that. But that's also a world power. Kuwait is small, yet it's extremely influential in the oil market. And Switzerland is like the banking god of the eastern hemisphere. They all have great power, and they are all small. But the fact that they have great power has nothing to do with the fact that they are small.

But the fact that they have great power has nothing to do with the fact that they are small. When I say small I'm not necessarily referring to population size, I just mean weak, weak as in to weak to report you or stop you. A better example would be a struggling or chaotic area that can't really report you to authorities. Japan is overly populated and very industrial, Switzerland has the highest income per person. But then again some of these countries are run by a ruler with too much power. So on another side, financial influence doesn't necessarily mean that the individuals are powerful either. I love these discussions.

So you mean like structurally or politically weak? For example, prior to World War II Germans were very unhappy with their situation and with their government. The government had accepted the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles, which was better characterized as the Treaty of "Kicking 'em when they're down." So the people are desparately looking for another way. They're easy to exploit, and they're willing to accept change in whatever flavors it may come, following the mentality, "Nothing could be worse than this." Hitler may have been extremely charismatic, but if the people weren't already in a mud pit helplessly watching as democracy proves itself futile in the face of immense hardship, fascism wouldn't have had a chance.
Is that what you mean?

Is that what you mean? That is a variation of it, but they accepted his leadership. I'm thinking more of what Walker did to Nicaragua, the people were really too weak to do anything about him so they accepted his leadership.
