Ugh, I hate it when people do that. If things don't go their way, then they'll try to convince other people that they're innocent and it's the other person's fault while refusing to admit his/her own actions. You might want to seek help if you're having thoughts about killing people. How old are you, anyway? No joke, I started when I 1st got to high school too. Man, I wonder if this a common Gear Grinder or are we just special. I started sittin' up and thinkin' about it whenever I put my hands on my food in the lunch room. I would say to myself, "what did I touch today"? Starring at my hand instead of eating. You know what else grinds my gears? People who use inflated words incorrectly. It sounds funny at 1st but after a while it just gets down right sad. I doubt it's just us. I'm not a hygiene freak, but I just like to be clean most of the time. If I don't trust where a person's hands have been, then the only greeting I might give them is a fist bump. Also, shouldn't you just wash your hands before going into the cafeteria? That kind of thinking should be automatic. In fact, it's common sense. What are inflated words? I think he's in his 20's, but his will to kill might have left when he saw that picture yesterday. lol Honestly you haven't been in love if you haven't contemplated murder once or twice, lol.

No one has ever said that and if they did, I'd say "Good, you should know that they're dirty".

Oh, I guess the youngest person here is either me or Alan.
Well, I must be different because I don't remember having the desire to kill a living human.

INFLATED WORDS ascertain. You mean discover or find out expedite. You mean speed up consolidate. Or you could just say combine formulate. Seriously, how about design, create? construct, fabricate...make initiate, activate. begin, start disseminate, transmit = send interface with talk with, connect
Huge words that are unnecessary. Yet they still exist, why is beyond me. Then when peeps use them incorrectly, like they don't know what they mean. I just get irritated. Like dude, if you don't know what the damn words mean just speak simply.
and for the record I am 17. Anyone wanna fight about it?

Well, there's nothing wrong with having a good variety of words in your vocabulary. I guess another thing that grinds my gears is people with gutter mouths. Honestly, I get tired of people who can't say two full sentences without using profanity. Those people seem to find new meanings for those words and use them excessively, and it's extremely annoying. It's worst when it's bunch of teenagers saying all of that garbage.

It's when people use those words to sound smart is when it becomes annoying, especially when you can tell they're doing it. I know very well what large words mean, and when somebody is using them to strengthen an otherwise weak argument. It's called sophism. Oops, there's one there. However "strengthen" is a larger word than "sophism".

Well, "sophism" would be considered an inflated word since it isn't used that often.
Heck, I didn't even know it existed until you said it.

That's what a lot of "big" words are anyways, inflated, because more basic words like "understand" are larger anyways. It's always easy to see through a weak argument though.

Yep, and it's usually the younger crowd who think it's cool to be vulgar. I wouldn't be surprise since almost every reality show is filled with profanity. That's what a lot of "big" words are anyways, inflated, because more basic words like "understand" are larger anyways. It's always easy to see through a weak argument though. Yeah, you're right about that. It's always amusing when someone tries to sound smart by using a bunch of big words.

I'm all about big words but you have to communicate to the appropriate audience, using inflated words doesn't help a weak argument, being a good communicator means you should be able to adapt all around. I used to read the dictionary for a hobby (I still do along with slang), but apparently some are too good for the dictionary because they use the words incorrectly.
Lol at alan's sentence.

Dang, does that show still come on? I haven't seen it in years.
Anyway, there's nothing wrong with using big words as long as you know what they mean. I take an English class almost every semester, so I'm always learning new words.

I take an English class almost every semester, so I'm always learning new words. I don't think it does, it might on something like Spike TV. There's nothing wrong with it if you know what it means AND you aren't trying to fill a weak argument or sound pretentious with it, because that is what a lot of people do when they use them and it isn't really a need to back to back. I'm not saying a word or two I'm saying every other word is inflated.

That kind of language should only be used when you can be confident that most of your audience knows what it means too. Or if you will be willing to give a layman's definition with it. The fact that the speaker knows what it means isn't the only thing that matters.

That's true. If the speaker uses big words on purpose while knowing it's unlikely that the audience knows the meaning of them, then it's obvious that their trying to sound smart and knowledgeable of the subject.
Somebody did that in my business class last semester during his oral presentation. He used a bunch of big words just to give us the idea that he was knowledgeable of his topic, but he got points deducted since he didn't bother to explain most of them.

Exactly, if we are in a logic and debate class, then terms like "syllogism" and "fallacy" will come up, but to use them in an argument with your little sister or mom is pushing it...

Well, it's okay to use those words against your family as long as they know what those words mean.
Anyway, another thing that grinds my gears is when people chew with their mouths open. Ugh, it's soo annoying. It's even worse when they make those smacking noises.

That's my biggest pet peeve, and why I eat alone.... hate smacking, it's the most annoying, pointless thing... problem is people grew up believing that doing it is respectful. And people who talk with full mouths? Arrgh!

You know what grinds the hell outta my gears?! Peeps who think it's okay to spread disease for population control and steralize poor people. WTF? That's the easy way out and it's just goin too far. There is a difference between doin' whats best and bein' a Nazi.
Just let nature take it's course and let the weak die and the strong survive. Live and let die AND Live and let live.

I can tolerate it if they're far away, but I don't want them close to me because I don't want any chunks of food to land on my face.
