I remember the good ol' days where Japan didn't use to do this. They're much more conservative now though.

CERO (Japans rating board) is far more severe than the ESRB.

Just beat it and ill have to say its a pretty good game. Only disappointing thing is probably the simplicity of the puzzles. Overall though it was decently challenging and has a pretty creepy vibe without pop up scares. In the beginning combat felt pretty bad but when you get weapons the game improves significantly. I was pleasantly surprised how well they balanced item placement. The game forces you to manage ammo and make hard decision between making meds or ammo. The story only improves but I felt the ending was kinda underwhelming. Game felt too short but I still felt like I got my moneys worth. Only took me 9 hours. Capcom actually made a good game again

TBH, I feel The Evil Within (Shinji Mikami's Game) despite being flawed was better than RE7.

Resident Evil 7 Dethrones GTA V for Top Spot on the UK Sales Charts This Week The fourth week of the 2017 UK Sales Charts are in, and we have a new top dog: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which debuted last week onJanuary 24, 2017. Capcom and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard weren’t the only ones to propel themselves into the Top 40, as Week 4 includes 5 new games. As for former number one, Grand Theft Auto V, it may have dropped out the of number one spot after two weeks atop the charts, but at least it wasn’t a far drop for Rockstar, who now sits at number two with the mega hit. For now, it hasn’t managed to join the elusive list of 4 games that have managed at number one on the All Formats Top 40 for 12 weeks. As mentioned above, there are five new releases to crack the Top 40, Resident Evil 7 is one of them, and the other four are console exclusive to PS4. These four include, Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter (debuting at number 3), Sega’s Yakuza 0 (debuting at number 8), Bandai Namco’s Tales of Berseria (debuting at number 14, despite only releasing on Friday), and Bandai Namco’s Digimon World: Next Order (debuting at number 24). Notably, Resident Evil 7 is the 3rd best week 1 debut for the series, with the week 1 record currently sitting with 2009’s Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil in general is Capcom’s most successful brand in the UK, and just sits outside the Top 30 all time brands since arrival in 1996. Also notable: the 500GB Glacier White Edition Playstation 4 arrived last week, and accounted for a quarter of all PS4’s sold for the week. PlayStation exclusive Gravity Rush 2 is also nowhere to be seen, after debuting last week at number 16. Here’s the full Top 40 for Week 4 2017: www.dualshockers.com/2017/01/30/resident-evil-7-dethrones-gta-v-top-spot-uk-sales-charts-week/-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resident Evil VII’s Early Stats Show Over 900K Players Worldwide, Nearly 9.5% Playing with PSVR Based on the stats from ResidentEvil.net, the debut of Resident Evil VII has shown a playerbase of over 900K players worldwide and nearly 10% playing in VR. The highly-anticipated Resident Evil VII: Biohazard debuted last week on consoles and PC to largely positive reception (including our own review of the game, which earned a 9.0 score), and based on the stat’s from the game’s companion stat tracking site, the game’s new soft reboot is also receiving some good numbers during its debut week. Over on ResidentEvil.net, a stat-tracking site that players can opt into when starting Resident Evil VII, the site shows some encouraging numbers for the game’s debut week by tracking the stats of players that opted in to sharing their game data. Overall, those numbers show 931,232 players worldwide (as of this writing) across all platforms, while also revealing that 88,289 players (9.48% of the total reported playerbase) are playing the game with PlayStation VR on PS4. Along with the total player numbers and VR stats, the site also shows other fun statistics such as a total combined playtime of over 800 years, over 18 million km of distance traveled, over 32 million player kills, and much more for those who love numbers. The big thing to note is that these numbers come from players that opted in to the ResidentEvil.net service when starting the game, so while they aren’t completely accurate when accounting for players that may not have opted in (and with no official sales data yet provided by Capcom or elsewhere), they still provide a pretty solid (and encouraging) set of numbers for the game’s debut within just about a week since its launch. Resident Evil VII For PS4 Sells Only 59% of Shipment in Japan; Xbox One Version Ranks 49th The Japanese sales research firm Media Create followed up its top-20 ranking published on Wednesday with its top-50 and full analysis, giving more color on the performance of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard by Capcom. We learn that the PS4 version of the game sold only 58.64% of the initial shipment during its debut week, despite launching on a Thursday and having four days on the shelves before the end of the week. This still managed to put the game on the top spot of the ranking with 187,306 copies sold, but it’s a massive decline from the PS3 version of Resident Evil 6, which sold 635,000 units in its debut week. That said, together with a new shipment of PlayStation VR, it managed to push the sales of PS4 (including PS4 Pro) to 121.86% compared to the previous week. PS4 software sales were 136.84% of last week’s figure. Unfortunately, Sony has been very conservative in shipping PlayStation VR units in Japan, causing lines at the stores for the second shipment last week, which pretty much evaporated as demand keeps being higher than the offer, even if it’s hard to gauge by how much. On the bright side, Media Create reports that since Resident Evil VII is fully playable on PlayStation VR, retailers expect it to sell more as Sony ships new PlayStation VR units. On the Xbox One front, Resident Evil VII actually joins the pretty exclusive club of games that made the Media Create top 50 even if barely. It ranked 49th, with no specific sales numbers disclosed. It’ll be interesting to see whether Sony Interactive Entertainment will start shipping a more sizable quantity of PlayStation VR units to Japan over the next few months (according the company, the headset is selling in line with expectations) and whether it’ll help Resident Evil VII: Biohazard or not. www.dualshockers.com/2017/02/02/sony-strong-momentum-playstation-network-playstation-vr-sales-line-expectations/---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resident Evil 7 Tops UK Sales Charts For Second Straight Week The fifth week of the 2017 UK Sales Charts are in, and like the fourth week, Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is top dog. Yup, that’s right, the latest entry in the iconic horror series has now posted impressive back-to-back number one showings in the UK, and if it lasts another week the spot, it will match the franchise’s longest run at the top (Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 5 both hung on at the the top for three weeks). Sales juggernaut Grand Theft Auto remains in second, while FIFA 17 climbs from number 4 to number 3. Meanwhile, new entry, Hitman: The Complete First Season broke into the top 5, landing at number 4, with its retail release. The only other new entry to break into the Top 40 is Nintendo’s 3DS title Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly Word which squeaked into the top 20, at the 20 spot. As for the rest of the top ten, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare remained at number 5, despite sales climbing 4% due to the release on Tuesday of its first DLC pack Sabotage. Rocket League also maintained its spot at number 6, and Battlefield 1 at seven. In eighth, it’s Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV which jumped 7 spots. While 9th and 10th are rounded up by 2K’s WWE 2K17 and Mafia III respectively. Here’s the full Top 40 for Week 5 2017 (the week ended on February 4th) It’s important to note this only includes physical sales, and not digital sales. www.dualshockers.com/2017/02/06/resident-evil-7-tops-uk-sales-charts-second-straight-week/Source: dualshockers

Resident Evil 7 and PS4 Top Japanese Sales For Second Straight Week According to Media Create Media Create has released its weekly sales charts of the Japanese market. For the week starting January 30th, 2017, and ending February 5th, the PS4 has once again topped the hardware charts, which is no surprise, because it does just that almost every week. Meanwhile, on the software side, Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard returns from last week, to claim its second week atop the chart. As for new additions to this week’s top 20, there’s only two: Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto (number 6) and BoxBoy! Stuffed Box (number 8). Here’s the full software chart: www.dualshockers.com/2017/02/08/resident-evil-7-ps4-top-japanese-sales-second-straight-week-according-media-create/---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resident Evil 7 Has Now Shipped 3 Million Copies Worldwide Capcom announced that worldwide shipments to retail for its recently released horror game Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the latest installment in the iconic Resident Evil franchise, for PS4, PlayStation VR, PC, and Xbox One have surpassed 3 million units. How many of these shipped units have been sold, wasn’t divulged. Digital Sales for the game have also not been revealed. Capcom also revealed that since 1996 — which is when the series first debuted — the series as a whole has now sold 76 million units. To give context to the 3 million, Resident Evil 7 shipped 2.5 million in its launch week (it launched January 24, 2017). To give even more context, this number is down substantially when compared to the 4 million copies Resident Evil 5 shipped in its first week, and the 4.5 million Resident Evil 6 shipped in its first week. Shortly after the game’s launch, Capcom’s shares fell, presumably because of the poor comparison. Earlier this year, Capcom announced its sales projections for Resident Evil 7, stating that it hopes the game will have sold 4 million copies through March 2017. Whether it will hit this figure, well, only time will tell. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resident Evil 7’s Banned Footage Vol. 2 DLC Out; Here’s What it Adds esident Evil 7: Biohazard’s second piece of DLC, Banned Footage Vol. 2 released onto PS4, costing $14.99 USD if you haven’t purchased either the Season Pass or Deluxe Edition. As you may know, the DLC is a timed exclusive on PS4 until February 21st, when it will arrive on PC and Xbox One as well. The game’s first piece of DLC, Banned Footage Vol. 1, launched back on January 31st for the PS4. It will also arrive on Xbox One and PC on February 21st. According to Capcom, the new DLC exposes further secrets from the dark past of the Baker family, it includes the following: – 21: Take part in a twisted card game where the stakes are your life. – Daughters: Experience the events that unfolded on the night it all started, when the downfall of the Bakers was set in motion. Includes the extra bonus content Jack’s 55th Birthday. It’s important to note that VR mode is not supported in Jack’s 55th Birthday. Source: dualshockers

Have you seen the Street Fighter Easter Egg in Resident Evil 7? There's a very subtle reference hidden away in the Baker estate Now that we've played through Resident Evil 7 enough to stop worrying about jump scares around every corner, (highly recommended if you haven't gotten your hands on it, by the way) we've begun exploring the details of the Baker estate, and discovered a little Street Fighter Easter Egg in the process. There are a few different points in the game where you'll come across bookcases featuring various novels, the titles of which are often nods to Resident Evil stories passed, and one of these in particular caught our eye: As you can see in the photo, "Fighting Street" is one of these book titles. This isn't just a play on the title of fellow Capcom franchise Street Fighter, it's a direct reference to a time long ago in Street Fighter's history. Many people know that the series actually started with a game before 1991's widely popular Street Fighter 2, but it's lesser known that the initial Street Fighter had a port with an alternate title. A 1988 port of the original Street Fighter for PC Engine/TurboGrafx CD console was released under the title Fighting Street a year after Street Fighter's initial arcade release. We're assuming the book we see in RE7 is a very thorough manual. Source: eventhubs

A Familiar Character Returns in Resident Evil 7’s Upcoming “Not A Hero” DLC The Resident Evil Twitter account recently revealed new information on Resident Evil VII: Biohazard’s upcoming Not A Hero DLC and it should make longtime RE fans quite happy. Chris Redfield, the hero from the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6 will make his triumphant return in this upcoming free add-on. Nothing else is currently known other than the release window which is sometime this spring. If you have finished Resident Evil VII’s campaign already, then you may have an idea of how Redfield could fit into this new DLC. You also should’ve seen a tease for Not A Hero after the credits rolled. Two other DLC packs have also been released for Resident Evil VII thus far. Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are both currently out and contain three new pieces of content each. Both Banned Footage volumes were available first on PS4 before finally being released earlier this week on Xbox One and PC. Banned Footage Vol. 1 costs $9.99 while Banned Footage Vol. 2 is $14.99. A third add-on – separate from Not A Hero – is on its way but no information has been given on it as of now other than it will be an “additional story episode”. Even after Resident Evil VII‘s ending, there are still a lot of questions that players have remaining. Let’s hope that Not A Hero can fill in some of these gaps when it releases. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resident Evil 7’s Behind the Scenes Video Explores How Horror Is Made Resident Evil VII: Biohazard has been lauded as a game that has brought the Resident Evil franchise back to the survival horror genre. However, it appears that in the game’s early development, that was not a given direction. The first episode in a multi-part Making Of series about Resident Evil VII‘s development released today. It delves into how the team responsible for reintroducing survival horror to the franchise was collected. According to the video (seen below), Resident Evil 6‘s action style was still on the minds of many at Capcom, and it seemed to be the direction that the next title would take until Jun Takeuchi became involved and assembled his team that would ultimately drive the game’s shift to first-person perspective and the horror genre. Among many other interesting aspects of the game’s early development included in the video, Executive Producer Takeuchi-san explains that one of the biggest shifts for him was going from Resident Evil 5, a game he had also produced, to VII. For him, 5‘s huge scale wouldn’t work for the new title’s tone, so in order to establish a greater sense of horror, it was significantly paired down from his previous experience with the franchise. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resident Evil 7 Not a Hero DLC Delayed Capcom announced that it has delayed its upcoming free Not a Hero DLC for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard out of its previously planned release sometime in Spring. According to Capcom, the reason for the delay comes down to that the content was simply not at the level of quality it knows its fans expect and deserve, and in order to make sure it delivers a “great experience,” it needs more time to improve and polish. In an accompanying video that featured some of the game’s team personally letting fans know themselves about the delay, Director Koshi Nakanishi added: “And we got close to completing the game content. However, in light of the incredible reception to the release of Resident Evil 7, we concluded that this DLC was not good enough to meet those high expectations.” Producer Masachika Kawata further added: “Our aim is for this content to match the high quality of the main game, so we need more development time in order to achieve that goal. Rest assured we’ll use this time to create something our fans will love.” Finally, executive producer Jun Takeuchi chirped in and mentioned that the team is working on a further piece of downloadable content, something that had been previously confirmed.
