Sonic and Mario. Former rivals turned into a team. Never would have guessed this back in the early to mid 90's.

Actually both but I looked more into Sonic Mania. I've been dipping back into old school stuff and this is a great way to get into that.

Some people say it's like a 2-D Sonic game had it come out during the Saturn era. I like it because it reminds me of the classic Sonic games. Also, I know more about it than the 3-D game.

Sonic Mania Shows Off its Retro Style in 12-Minutes of Gameplay Footage
Polygon released 12-minutes of gameplay that shows off the new Green Hill and Studiopolis Zones. These areas may look familiar for seasoned players of the Sonic franchise, but they are all new and ready to get in the hands of a new generation of gamers as well as the old ones.
The video details the multiple paths players will be able to take while trying to get to the end of the respective levels. Additionally, the video gives players a chance to listen to some of those glorious retro tracks by composer Tee Lopes, who originally remixed classic Sonic songs for his YouTube channel.

So the drop dash seems to be an ability that allows you to keep your momentum and still essentially spin dash?
I love the classic reworks as they're more my style. Hopefully I can play it on Steam.

Watch Sonic Dash Through A Handful Of Colorful Stages In Sonic Mania Sonic Mania, Sega’s upcoming 2D Sonic game featuring all new Zones and re-imagined levels, was officially announced during Comic-Con 2016 last year. More recently, the game was also revealed to be getting a release on the Nintendo Switch. In an episode of Sega RAW, more gameplay from Sonic Mania was shown off, featuring Sonic as he bolted through a bunch of vibrant stages. You can check it all out in the following video. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sonic Mania Shows Green Hill Zone Act 2 in Gameplay Video and Gets New Screenshots Sega has revealed a brand new area for Sonic Mania, the area is named Green Hill Zone Act 2 and is a new original stage exclusive to Sonic Mania. This new stage aims to expand on the tropical setting that players are so familiar with in Act 1 and adds new mechanics, obstacles, and secrets to uncover. One of these new features is the use of a fire shield. If the player has the fire shield and runs over a bridge, the bridge will burn and reveal access to a new path. However, if they land in water they will lose the shield. Additionally, the publisher has revealed a new series of bosses called “Hard-Boiled Heavies”. These enemies are part of Eggman’s crew and each has a special skill that makes them unique in battle. The first in the series of bosses is named “Heavy Gunner” and will appear at the end of the Hollywood-inspired Studiopolis Act 1. The robot boss is armed with a rocket launcher and can take to the sky with his helicopter to rain down missiles towards Sonic. The publisher details the premise: Sonic Mania is the ultimate celebration of past and future, blending Genesis-era Sonic platforming with New Zones, Powerful Bosses, and 3 Playable Characters, all presented at a gorgeous 60 FPS. In the span of 25 years, Sonic has collected countless rings across various Zones, and Sonic Mania revisits what it was that first made Sonic great, all while building upon that foundation and giving old and new fans alike an experience that will leave them smiling. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sonic Mania delayed to summer 2017 Sega has delayed Sonic Mania from its previously planned spring 2017 release to summer 2017, the company announced at the Sonic the Hedgehog SXSW 2017 panel. According to Sega, development needs a little more time to meet the quality standards it would like to achieve. Sega also premiered a new Classic Zone for the game, the “Flying Battery Zone” from Sonic & Knuckles, as well as the game’s key art, and tossed around the idea of a Sonic the Hedgehog vinyl. Sonic Forces Looks Fast and Fantastic in First Gameplay Trailer and Screenshots; Gets New Details Sonic Forces was revealed at SXSW 2017, and today you can finally see more. The game will be an evolution of the formula of two Sonic game, Generations and Colors. The Sonic Team chose these two games after looking at all the modern Sonic titles released in the previous years, paying close attention to the high and low points. During their research, the team would end up putting aside any low points they found and keep all the high points, with two of these high points being Generations and Colors. There are three different modes of gameplay: Modern, Classic, and a third yet to be revealed. The gameplay released is from the modern mode and shows a scene of Sonic running through a city that is being invaded by the evil Eggman. In the story, Eggman has conquered a significant part of the world, and has seemingly won the fight against Sonic and friends. However, Sonic hasn’t given up just yet, and that’s all we currently know about the story. Additionally, just like in Sonic Colors, you can release little Wisps scattered throughout the level, that fill Sonic’s boost bar located in the bottom left of the screen. With the press of a button players can use this bar to boost through the lanes. Sonic Forces is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch in the Holiday season 2017. Eggman Cooking Written By: NyuNozomiHyuga Doctor Eggman a mad scientist that robotize animals, to possessing powerful forces (Emeralds/Chaos/ARK/Flames of Disaster/Dark Gaia/Time Eater/Deadly Six), and creating machines capable of taking out the annoying blue hedgehog in attempt at conquering the world. This guy has an IQ of 300 (which I doubt). But he is also a romanticist & a feminist (according to the Sonic Heroes manual). But did you know that he has the "capability" to cook? In this video we will be cooking with Doctor Eggman, hope its something tasty. In other news, Sonic The Hedgehog original character designer Naoto Ohshima (created: Sonic & Dr. Eggman) has recently draw artwork piece for Sonic Mania.
