Nintendo cheated because once Sonic game came on the Game Cube they made them lost their company to only be a handful of development teams for numerous.

I agree Sega had better games and the business did go to Nintendo but the games on Sega Genesis and Sega Dreamcast are good enough.

Now wait a minute!
Nintendo has exceptional games that smoke any Sega game. I need a referrence point here.
Are we talking Sonic games vs Mario games etc..., etc...?

I feel that the Genesis and SNES are the best consoles for the franchises. I enjoy a great many games on both, but I have to say I got more from Sonic, and the various beat-em-ups I had. Genesis tended to have better sound and more content in many of the crossover games, while the SNES versions simply had better graphics in most cases. You'd better keep your mouth shut, you're almost straight Nintendo.

Okay! SNES vs. Genesis!
Now we have something to work with. That's great!
Okay, as far as sound quality I think you're right. The Genesis did have better quality sound on their more POPULAR TITLES!!
Yes I'd also agree that there is a graphical difference between the two systems and the SNES comes out on top.
Fighting games - Essentially we have Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter The controller for the SNES was much better for Street Fighter And nobody goes to the SNES for Mortal Kombat. There's no blood. #tumble#

SNES was my fave SNES system and probably the best, Genesis was my fave Sega system and probably the best of that too.

Hmm, I'm sure there are some good ones, but I didn't get genesis for those, not to mention old consoles didn't do RPG's as well as I'd like, I got those for mostly beat em ups and classics.

Genesis: .....
Forget it! There aren't any! Squaresoft wouldn't work with Genesis!

Depends on how you define RPG's really.

Depends on how you define RPG's really. Oh great. We don't need another semantics discussion. You're the one that makes most of them that to begin with. People define RPG's differently, if it's a role playing game, then almost all games are. Some people consider RPG's to be games where you create the character, so most of those would be eliminated if that is the case.

Golden Axe doesn't count.
If we have to result to semantics in order to discuss RPG's on the Genesis then we might as well not discuss it at all.
Let's move on.

Like I said I don't have many old school "RPG's" but it depends on what you consider an RPG, if you make a character grow then many things are RPG's. If you base it on leveling up, then it's more specific. But honestly you could say that none of those are real RPG's, hell Diablo isn't really a real RPG. It's more hack and slash.
To each it's own though.

CM, you do NOT want to discuss what makes an RPG and what doesn't. Trust me; it'll just end up with me telling you and everyone else that Baldur's Gate, Final Fantasy, and the Tales series are NOT RPGs, but adventure games with stats, and you'll end up crying, probably. Just leave it at that, please.

Just leave it at that, please. I don't play FF and Tales too much really, maybe I should make a thread of what dictates what an RPG is? The amount of options, the size? I'd say BG is one of the best "CRPG's" (the console version is debateable). That is my opinion though, of course you could just create your own RPG game and call it that with pen and paper and a never ending quest. What makes an adventure game? All games let you adventure somewhere, but does that make it an adventure game? Depends on the person who wishes to specify it, games like BG obviously can't allow the amount of options of a pen and paper game and keep the good story it has, but it can closely mimic it (also many add ons from the gaming community change the story and allow many more options). Games like Morrowind and large games like that allow pretty much limitless options and no true main quest in some of them, but that also leads to less satisfaction and it feels like more of a task after a while with no real plot to follow. Many older games didn't allow this many options, so it is safe to say there are very few classic RPG's, especially on console. And why would I cry? I'm sure I'm the hardcore multi-genre gamer around here even though I don't play as much as I used to. I still research, define, and analyze what I play, it's all part of the discussion. I might like BG but it doesn't make me biased in defining what it is. I'll have to make a thread on that, but let's get back to the main topic of this one. I'd still say Sega is cooler in my opinion.

For crying out loud.
List for me some games you THINK are RPG's and we'll compare them to the optional (so-called) RPG's on the SNES.
I don't want to get all bogged down with semantics. If we get into that we'll never determine what a Fighting game is either.

If we get into that we'll never determine what a Fighting game is either. We've taken it to a new topic. I wasn't trying to do it on purpose, but if people disagree on what certain games are it won't work. A fighting game is where you hit each other duh, like NFL Blitz.

Good job, we've got him from Sega is better to Sega is cooler. It's only a matter of time now. I hate you... I'm gonna go to the thread that Sinistrious just made and argue my ass off. See you all there ;D P.S. According to Sinistrious, there's gonna be crying involved.

Why can't we just get along? Okay so we're saying that Sega is Cooler? That might be...seeing as blood and guts were permitted on the Genesis. I mean you had bloody Mortal Kombat and bloody Splatterhouse and bloody Eternal Champions and bloody Golden Axe and bloody Altered Beast.... Please tell me blood and guts aren't the only attraction that the Genesis has. The system itself does look better: And I geuss we could say that the Sega Genesis was faster...but it's hard to prove that since the only game to use as a basis is the Sonic the Hedgehog series and really aren't we just saying that old school Sonic games rock when we say that?

After doing some research I'm going to go down officially and say that Sega Genesis did not sound better than the SNES.
In fact just the opposite.

I've noticed that the same games for both consoles tended to sound better on the Genesis. Battletoads and DD, Seperation Anxiety, Maximum Carnage, etc.

Hmmmmmm. Wll when i was young (decade or less) i played Sega mega drive 2, gensis i owned one of them pretty good games all round but nintendo just hand that certain x factor when it game to its own games espcially when N64 came (4 ports) best multiplayer games between the two. I'm a nintendo fan ownig n64, gamecube, wii, handhelds. I think Nintendo better at business and finding oppotunities (4 ports, anologe stick, rumble feature, motion etc.) and innovation (look at business term)
