So, what kind of music are you into? And did your taste in music change as you grew older? Do you still listen to the stuff you used to listen to, every now and again?
And who are your favourite artists? Have you managed to see any of them live? How was the show?

As I grew up, I listened mostly to 60's (my dad was a big Elvis fan) and musicals (my mom). So I have heard pretty much every song from the 60's that ever existed, and in fact, grew to like it quite a lot (did all of you enjoy the Johnny Cash movie as much as I did?) and as an added bonus, I can sing along with Fiddler on the Roof and Paint your Wagon (hey, don't knock it, where else have you ever heard Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood sing ballads?) At varsity I fell into the hippy crowd, so it was all Jimi Hendrix and The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Deep Purple, you know, all the 70's rock kinda stuff, moving onto Guns 'n Roses, Metallica, etc. Then I went through an alternative phase and every weekend I'd be dressed in black, head-banging and moshing to Sisters of Mercy, Nick Cave, Violent Femmes, Alien Sex Fiend, etc. Then I went to London for a couple of years (mid 90's) and discovered the clubbing scene. So then, of course, i was out three or four nights a week, listening to Carl Cox, Daft Punk, John Digweed, Fatboy Slim, etc. And then I discovered trance, and all the various trance parties when I came back to SA, especially the more tribal ones, with drums... So I've had a pretty varied taste in music as I grew up! At the moment I like kinda tribal stuff, like Leftfield for instance, or spanish guitar, like Los Lobos, or sometimes older stuff, like Johnny Cash. I have to listen to music with earphones on work, so I prefer easy-listening stuff. However... The two bands I most would like to see live, right now, is: Rammstein and Juno Reactor. They both KICK ASS !!! Oh, and the artists I've seen live: Metallica Fatboy Slim Faithless Prodigy Midnight Oil and a bunch of DJs

But I love Music and Game soundtracks, Jacko, and R. Kelly.

Well, like I said, at the moment I'm more into Juno Reactor (do you like Juno Reactor? I loved that scene they did in Matrix II with the drums and the dancing... ) but it was always sorta hard house/techno/trance when I was going out, and deep house/trance when I was at home, chilling. I can listen to drum 'n bass, and I have some Ghostrider and Roni Size CDs somewhere, but I never really got into it. At home I've got Sasha and John Digweed (Northern Exposure is SUCH a classic album), Fatboy Slim, Sven Vath, Daft Punk, Faithless... Lisa Lashes, Keoki, Tidy Trax and Tripoli Trax (I love that Paul Glazby God of Hellfire re-mix) are some of the harder CDs I have. I had a Jeff Mills CD, but I gave it away... And in SA we have some good DJs as well, like Dizzy and Surge And I have have a bunch of Return to the Source/Mushroom Mafia style trance CDs.... And yourself?

I'm not really into rap or hip-hop stuff, except if it is Mike Shinoda. I prefer him better when he is in Linkin Park. His Fort Minor side project wasn't as good. Linkin Park is my favorite band, but I like a bunch of stuff in different genres. I like a lot of orchestra stuff, techno, and metal. After getting into liking anime a lot, I am starting to like a bunch of Japanese artists as well.

Sad, the elder generation knows not the Beethoven of their time... It's a shame isn't it. They probably don't know the R. Kelly of their time either.
