Like I told everyone else, shit is fake. All this has happened before, last year. I'm not moved. And people all hyped and shit are gonna be lookin real phuckin stupid when this turns out to be Street Fighter/Capcom VS/X The-God Damn-Muppets. I am gonna laugh in everyone's faces. Capcom refuses to stop suckin for even a damn moment. And on the other end, you got companies like ASW reviving Guilty Gear. Capcom is phucking laughable. Nah they're still hating Capcom... They don't "hate" Capcom. People just complain nowadays more lol. Give me a functional good game, and I'm all set. Darkstalkers fans have a right to complain, tho. Leik, is there anyone on the planet who still doesn't know this? HD Remix, SFIV, SSFIV, MVC2 HD, 3S:OE, MVC3, UMV3, and SFxT are all are functionally good games lol. Time to break up the monotony. Stop trollin and make the damn game already.

Surely we make no fuss because Capcom refuses to make the game. It's the fact that Capcom is TROLLING the fans with the game. They allow Ono to build up unbelievable amounts of hype, spout so much nonsense about him wanting to create the title; only for when his hands are free, he creates more of the same games over and over.
I can list countless articles where EVERYONE thought Ono was making DS4 instead of SFXT, simply because of how much he talked about the series. It's gotten to the point where, even in the face of overwhelming evidence, one can still question whether or not DS4 will ever come.

Again, his own wishes and what the entire company does aren't the same. Of course they are going to make more of the same game as they make such huge money. Not personal, just business. Darkstalkers is great, but they know it won't turn the profit that Street Fighter or the crossover games will as it is a niche market, so they make the other games to satisfy the larger base.

Darkstalkers is great, but they know it won't turn the profit that Street Fighter or the crossover games will as it is a niche market, so they make the other games to satisfy the larger base. You're not telling me anything I don't know. However, there is a difference between talking about your wishes and then deliberately leading people on. It is quite obvious he's doing the later. Of course for you all, who only played Capcom's Versus and Street Fighter games, it's only natural to be unaware. Those of us who had more expansive fighting game tastes back in the day, pay more attention to the entire field, rather than a few select games. It's very clear you have not read all the same things we have, and that's fine. Also, I thought it was worth bringing up that, before 08, Darkstalkers sold far more than Marvel, despite Marvel having more games. Darkstalkers also has comics, mangas, toys, anime, cartoons, etc that Capcom USA has admitted to selling so well that it would be foolish of them to sell the series to ASW (a company that actually wants to make DS4, themselves). So, it isn't as huge a gamble as say, ASW bringing back Guilty Gear, Tecmo reviving Dead or Alive, or Sega contuning Virtua Fighter. Which they are doing, much to fan's delight. I shall end with the note that Capcom has revived Bionic Commando and, recently, Steel Battalion; games with far less potential profit than Darkstalkers 4. There is more than enough reason to be annoyed with Ono and displeased with Capcom for the lack of Darkstalkers..........or Rival Schools.

And I am familiar with Darkstalkers and I have been for a while, but I definitely am not "ultra hardcore" about it, but I'm not like that about any game. If it comes out, great, if not, I'll wait. By the way I've played numerous games across numerous genres from the casual Mortal Kombat, to Street Fighter, Twisted Metal, etc. I just am more open to certain games than most, I just don't like shitty games. Capcom has numerous franchises that sell like Megaman and Resident Evil, then of course you have Street Fighter, all which really sell. Darkstalkers is just a much smaller base in comparison. I like the game myself, but I can't say they're explicitly leading people on. Some people just complain about everything no matter what happens. It's the same with all franchises and genres. You have your noobs who hate the "elites" the "elites" who hate the noobs, and the perfectionists, scrubs, and everyone else. It's just the nature of gaming. Some of it I like, and some of it I don't. I know some people are just going to be unhappy no matter what. Imagine the backlash if they worked on Darkstalkers instead of Marvel vs Capcom, there would be an even larger base of people upset. That said I would like to see Capcom vs SNK 3 and Darkstalkers, with hopes they don't water down or noob it up. Darkstalkers outsold the Marvel vs Capcom games? The game didn't become a mega mega hit until MvC2, so it is likely as it was just starting out. Rival Schools was a fun game, but that is still more of a small hardcore base, probably wouldn't be a priority with them with SF and vs series around. That said I wish they'd speed up their PC support on those patches. Waiting 3 months for AE 2012 is just ridiculous.

Well, if you have been steppin outside of SF and Versus, you must have read the dozens of articles and interviews that lead everyone to believe that Darkstalkers 4 was Capcom's next game. Ono is part of Capcom and his actions caused this. . . kotaku.com/5585325/street-fighter-iv-cre... www.vg247.com/2010/07/12/ono-revealing-n... www.vg247.com/2010/07/06/street-fighter-... ... www.pspgweber.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f... gamingbolt.com/capcom-super-street-fight... gnn.com.ng/2010/07/06/capcom-super-stree... gematsu.com/2010/07/ono-super-street-fig... www.eurogamer.net/articles/street-fighte... That is trollin. Capcom allowed one of their employees to intentionally mislead fans into thinkin he was creatin the next Darkstalkers and instead, made yet another crap-crossover and lead the people he hyped up completely empty handed. And actually, nope! No one would have been upset at Darkstalkers being chosen over MVC3 since Darkstalkers was talked about being made since before SFIV was released. And about the backlash being larger, that's just you on the outside lookin in. Before MVC3, Darkstalkers sold more than MVC and DS didn't even have as many games. There were more DS fans than there were MVC fans, because DS was a genuinely better fightin game series. It was 2nd, only to SF. Marvel VS Capcom (1998) - 0.10m in sales across the phuckin PSOne and the Dreamcast, the 2 most popular consoles of that time Vampire Savior (1997)- 0.18m in sales across the PSOne and the phuckin Sega Saturn, a console next to no one owned. Hell, the OG Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge sold more copies on the Saturn, alone, than MVC 2 did on the Dreamcast, XBox, and PS2 combined! MvC2 Xbox - 0.01m DC - 0.14m PS2 - 0.13m Night Warriors Saturn - 0.34m (not even includin the PSOne port, cant find sales for that) Dat Darkstalkers. For what it lacked in popular comic characters, it made up for in ridiculous game-play (that made the games with the Marvel characters and the SFA series) and the numbers showed it. Capcom just dropped the ball.

They've been teasing Twisted Metal for quite a while and it finally came out. I wish they came out with Capcom vs SNK 3. Even if Darkstalkers sold more than Marvel vs Capcom at the time, Marvel vs Capcom became ultra, ultra popular and had a strong tournament presence, despite the game being broken as all hell. In terms of complex fighting mechanics many games are better than Marvel vs Capcom, although MvC is as fun as hell. We will see if they make a new game though. SF vs Tekken looks ok, but it also has several noob filled things I don't like. Darkstalkers hasn't been around for a long, long time. Is the base really there? If they did make the game, would they just noob it out? I hope not.

@ C Master
Ono's a troll, plane and simple. They never teased Twisted Metal to the point where everyone thought it was coming, and the released a completly different killer car game in its place. See how you want, but the truth is, ono be trollin.
The figures i listed were when Marvel was popular and Mvc had a bigger tourney presence cuz it was the easier game to play. Despite marvel's ultra popularity and bigger tourney scene (in the US), Darkstalkers was still outselling marvel. And hell, yur only lookin at the US, in japan, damn near as many people still play vampire savior as they do MVC3.
Marvel only surpased darkstalkers with the HD port on XBLA and PSN. And that's only cuz darkstalkers hasn't seen a console port on the US in 15 years. Capcom just dropped the ball man.

And that's only cuz darkstalkers hasn't seen a console port on the US in 15 years. Capcom just dropped the ball man. If you see it that way you can. As a matter of fact, nobody should be complaining really. Duke Nukem takes this by far. His game was promised for well over a decade with tons of videos and trailers with nothing else to come out. For years and years. It's legendary in that aspect. Lots of games do exactly what you are talking about. Nothing new. Difference is some take it more personally than others. If I'm not mistaken either vigilante 8 or Rogue Trip were made by the same creator. Keep in mind also that Twisted Metal is a one of a kind series that doesn't have really any substitutes. You have tons and tons of fighters, many which play rather similar, just with different characters. So if they release a fighting game like Capcom vs SNK 3 for instance, but people prefer SF, they'll still flock and play it to bide the time. Twisted Metal has had 10 year gap releases and a 5 year one before that, with no real substitute. Darkstalkers in today's terms is a strong niche game, like Twisted Metal. I'm not saying there isn't a base, but it is a strong hardcore base, and not a large casual base. I don't think Darkstalkers was ever all that causal. Marvel vs Capcom is way more casual and they saw the potential with it. Keep in mind that MvC was still much newer back then and DC had some games behind it. That being said, it's not like I'm saying gaming companies don't make dumb decisions, or silly ones, they do, a lot. I'm just saying this isn't the first time. Hell Twisted Metal is great but the online problems are a pain and it's taking them a month to fix it... hopefully the patch they're supposed to release tonight will do it.

Well, C Master, you raise many good points. And a lot of people were livid with the creators behind Duke Nukem, just as we are with Capcom. But like you say, some people are just more "into" it than others and take it as and assault to their honor. I do, and obviously CTA does as well. But I really don't think Ono should be allowed to do this, without having anything meaningful to actually show fans. And if other companies are showing signs that say their series isn't dead and then asks the crowds to hold up money without actually even trying to deliver; just doing this for the sake of doing it? Then those companies are wrong, too. And you don't have to worry about CVS3, the game has Street Fighter characters in it, AND it's a crossover, they will eventually make CVS3, without a doubt. They're probably developing it now. And I'm being totally serious when I tell you this. @cta I try to tell people that Darkstalkers has routinely outsold Marvel all the time. Marvel didn't actually become Capcom's number two until 2009, with MVC2 being re-released in the beginning of the fighting game boom. MVC2 became the fastest selling game on PSN and XBLA history, iIrc. Marvel has only been more popular in the west. And not by a large margin, here in the US until 2000, or so. Honestly, if Capcom USA owned DS, we probably would've seen it by now. Especially since, "DarkStalkers first hit arcades in 1994 and came to the original PlayStation in early 1996. That was a pretty good time frame for Capcom fighters, as both Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Street Fighter Alpha came to the US in that same period. In fact, Darkstalkers laid the groundwork for many ideas that would be put to use in Alpha and other fighting games moving forward.
Instead of world warriors or trained martial artists, Darkstalkers pitted various monsters against in each other, which meant gorgeous, inhuman beasties battling in one of the weirdest, coolest-looking fighting games on the market. Its popularity led to sequels, comics, and uh, a cartoon that I'm probably not allowed to talk about."this is how Capcom USA feels about the series. They would have made it. Releasing any product is a gamble, but Darkstalkers, right after SFIV's MASSIVE success would have been FAR less of a gamble than people make it out to be. Especially since awesome games like Blazblue and KOFXIII have FAR less of a fan base than Darkstalkers and still does very well in this day and age. Capcom needs to strike while the iron is hot.

I don't think the game is a bad idea to release, and didn't they say they were releasing it in an article? We'll just have to wait and see. You think DS has a larger base than Blazblue and KOF 13 in today's times? KOF isn't what it used to be granted, but Blazblue seems pretty popular in 2012.

I'm very confident that any fighter Capcom makes will have more fans than any of it's competition that isn't TK, SC, and SB. Not to mention the BB developers actually like Darkstalkers and have stated they would not mind doing a DS, someday. So a lot BB's base are also DS old fans. Then you think about this, like me, most DS fans are also Marvel and SF fans. That's a decent portion of 3 bases that I think, exceed BB, and KOF at this point. You have 100k signatures on a DS petition, that's already a 3rd of the original BB and KOFXIII's sales. When you factor in marketing and the eventual casuals that will buy the game. I can see DS4 selling, at least 500k.

And that's what I meant before, people always have a backup game to play when their main hasn't come out, it offers some form of relief. I hope after they make Darkstalkers they make a Capcom vs SNK3, and they *don't* noob the hell out of it.
