Round 1 to Offer Tekken 7 in All Locations in December
With us edging closer to Tekken 7: Fated Retribution’s console release date in early 2017, America has had a hard time in becoming competitive in the game. The reason why is obvious: Asia has Tekken 7 in arcades, and the West simply doesn’t. Well, this is technically untrue, as Round 1 had one available in their location in Illinois. However, it’s not like everyone can make a pilgrimage to the midwest to play Tekken.
Soon, it will become easier to get access to the game, as Round 1 will be offering Tekken 7 in all of their locations in December. For those who don’t know: Round 1 is a bowling alley and arcade chain with locations in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.
Whether this will be vanilla Tekken 7 or Fated Retribution is yet to be announced. With it so close to the console release date, we can only hope that it will be the latter instead of the former.

'High Chance' Cross-Platform Play may not be in Tekken 7 at Console Launch Says Harada It's not a matter of the technology for getting the PS4/XB1/PC players to match up against each other being the issue, but rather first party company policies and potential security risks alongside the community perceived reputation of PC gamers being cheaters that is hindering the decision to allow cross platform play as explained by Tekken project leader Katsuhiro Harada on Twitter to a fan question. That is not to say that cross platform play for the game has been outright denied however, merely that these hurdles are hampering the decisions to allow it. The specific usage of the home versions 'launch' in the explanation brings up an interesting consideration also by suggesting that all the drawbacks of allowing cross platform play can be avoided temporarily early in the game's lifespan and then later enabled to help the overall player base when the game has its 'drop off' of players. With that all said, there is a large possibility that cross-platform play for Tekken 7 will not be allowed when it launches in Early 2017 Harada says. If you yourself are passionate about the feature and its implementation in Tekken 7, why not let Harada know? He reads all the feedback he receives on Twitter. Source: avoidingthepuddle

I like the character design for him. They seem to be taking the approach of making characters from different countries this time around.

Tekken 7 FR - Feng Combo Damage Notes from Nekosuke (Ver. D)
Japanese Feng player Nekosuke recently got around to testing out the damage values of a bunch of different Feng combos and punishers at an arcade. It costs additional money on top of the coin you put into the T7FR machine for access to all this data in the Premium Practice mode so it's good info from someone who 'took the bullet' for us so to speak. All these notes were posted from his Twitter account in images but I've transcribed them all into our notation system for us to read.

Tekken 7 FR - Arcade Online Update 'Version H' Balance Changelist
Announced on Tekken-Official is 'Version H' for Tekken 7 Fated Retribution in arcades in Japan and Korea. This update is smaller then the previous ones so extensive character balance changes weren't made but this version still has some adjustments to make since this version will be the one used in the King Of Iron Fist Tournament 2016 Grand Finals. For the sake of keeping up with all the versions, the last known version of the game was Version D that came in with Master Raven. This new arcade update is skipping Version E, F & G which is not publicly known. It's a minor note though. For those competing in the Global finals for the King Of Iron Fist 2016 next month in December, here are all the changes coming with Tekken 7 Fated Retribution Version H. Version H will go live in arcades on November 29.
▌Tekken 7 Fated Retribution - Update Ver.H ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄
【Character Balancing Changes】
AKUMA
Akuma's hurtbox during all his Forward, Backward Jumps and Demon Flips moves have been made larger. This adjustment will make it easier to hit an airborne Akuma with a larger amount of moves. The Recovery Frames for Akuma landing after performing a jump has been increased. This adjustment will make it more easier to punish Akuma when he lands to the ground after being in an airborne state. Demon Flip 1, Demon Flip 3, Demon Flip 4, Demon Flip 1+3 / 2+4 have the same adjustments made as above. (Recovery frames increased after landing.)
MASTER RAVEN
An unintended damage increase to the 1st hit of her b+4,4 would occur after doing a specific input. This was unintended and has now been fixed.
GIGAS
Specific moves that were affected when trading with Gigas' Rage Drive has been corrected. Since they weren't intentional, the behaviour of the Rage Drive has been adjusted. (FW - Gigas could cancel out certain characters Rage arts with his Rage Drive in previous versions so I think this is what this change is particularly targeting.) Being able to do a Crazy Knuckle (b+2) after triggering the Earth Quake from Gigas' Rage Drive has been fixed. 'Various other system related bugs have also been corrected' is mentioned at the bottom of the Version H change list but are not further detailed.

Tekken 7 Interview With Katsuhiro Harada – Console Content, DLC and More
While Tekken 7 still doesn’t have a firm release date for consoles, Producer Katsuhiro Harada has already confirmed that it will run at 1080p resolution and 60fps (frames-per-second) on PlayStation 4.
Speaking of Harada, the famed “face” of the Tekken franchise has given us a chance to speak with him about all things Tekken 7! We asked him about exclusive console content, DLC and a whole lot more.
PlayStation LifeStyle: The game has been out in arcades for a while. Has feedback from players helped to shape the console versions of the game? If yes, to what extent?
Katsuhiro Harada: First, I would like you to remember that, not only Tekken, but most fighting games always appeared in arcades first, and then were ported to console. In that long history of arcade to console porting cycles, fighting games were updated and polished in the arcades before being ported to console. If you know this history, you know half the answer already. In the current climate, probably only Tekken is still able to stick to this traditional cycle of having a large scale arcade release and receiving a substantial amount of feedback while still in the arcade. This obviously still helps us quite a bit in developing the game. Console only modes and content is a different story, however.
PSLS: Are there any features coming exclusive to the console versions?
Harada: Hahahaha!! The Tekken series has continued for 20 years, and you’ve seen what we have done in the past, right? Has there ever been an installment in which we never including anything extra for the console release?
PSLS: Any DLC plans? If so, can you hint at them? New characters?
Harada: Up until now, our DLC was free, but we were only able to provide free content for two to three months after launch. However, current feedback from players has been that they want to see a longer span of support after the release, so we are currently still discussing our plans for DLC.
PSLS: What’s next for Tekken’s storyline, what with the Mishima conflict coming to an end?
Harada: The main storyline portrays the showdown between Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima. Not only that, but we delve into why the father and son began their quarrel in the first place. A lot of the mysteries that were left unanswered will be explained.
PSLS: Who’s the best character for newcomers to the franchise? Who’s the most challenging character to master?
Harada: I would definitely recommend Katarina to newcomers. It’s a lot of fun even mashing the kick buttons to see a great variety of different attacks, and her combos aren’t too difficult. For difficult to master, I would say Hwoarang is deceptively difficult to master.
PSLS: How’s development going at this stage? Are things on schedule for the early 2017 release?
Harada: There’s never easy going with development, but everyone is giving 120% to create the best Tekken possible.
PSLS: Tekken has always been known for it’s unique modes outside of the normal fighting game. Are there any fun modes making a return from previous games, or entirely new modes this time around?
Harada: Story Mode might sound similar to past modes because of the name alone, but it is quite unique in that you can shift seamlessly from cinematics to actual gameplay, and this sets it apart from other fighting games. We also have some other cool things planned, but can’t go in to detail yet.
PSLS: Why was the decision made to bring Akuma in to Tekken 7? Is he a part of the story, or just a guest character?
Harada: Akuma actually is part of the Mishima storyline in some way. I would also hesitate to call him a “guest character” because he is hardly a guest. He is a formidable foe.
PSLS: Can we expect to see more guest characters from other franchises make an appearance, either in game or as DLC?
Harada: I don’t know. My sole focus now is to try to finish the game and make it awesome!
PSLS: We’ve always loved Tekken for the cutscenes and story modes that each character has. Does Tekken 7 continue to incorporate the web of full stories for each character with full CG cutscenes?
Harada: All I can see is to wait until you can play it for yourself. As I mentioned above, the Story Mode is quite different from past installments and other fighting games.
PlayStation LifeStyle would like to thank Harada and Bandai Namco for taking the time out to chat with us.

Tekken 7 Producer on PC and Console Ports, eSports, and Character Development
Tekken 7 has been out in Japanese arcades since March 2015, but it still hasn’t hit store shelves for home systems. That will finally change in early 2017 when it lands on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Katsuhiro Harada, the longtime producer of the franchise, was present at the North American finals for the King of the Iron Fist Tournament. The best Tekken players from around the country gathered to compete on the currently unreleased Tekken 7 for cash prizes in San Francisco. While competition is going strong in Tekken 7, fans of the series are probably wondering what’s going on with the home versions of the game.
GameSpot caught up with Harada-san and game designer/translator Michael Murray to talk about the competitive scene, the arrival of Tekken 7’s home version, and character development throughout the series.
GameSpot: As eSports grow and the fighting games scene continues to flourish, how do you see Tekken 7 fitting in?
Harada/Murray: We're already able to do the tournament series on the current arcade boards that we have. We have maybe 30 or so that we send around to events. So right now [that] has kind of limited the environment which the players in North America and Europe are able to get their hands on Tekken 7.
We feel that eSports is becoming increasingly popular, but the players have limited time with the game. So we're hoping that that's going to change quite a bit after the release on console and PC in early 2017. We think that we're starting off slow, but after the release date things will start to pick up.
To you, what distinguishes Tekken from other fighting games in the competitive scene?
I guess the obvious difference is probably that the game is 3D as opposed to 2D. A lot of the other 2D fighters are using 3D game models and graphics, but to actually have 3D coordinates and be able to move into the background and foreground in a way that changes the gameplay is something that sets Tekken apart quite a bit from other games. There were more 3D fighters in the field many years back, but Tekken has been the only major one that remains.
Why do you think that is? Why have other fighting games all gone 2D but Tekken has stayed 3D? Why do you think we haven’t seen Soulcalibur in a while?
It's hard to say, but it could be perhaps: at the time Tekken first started, it wasn't the major franchise it is today. Virtua Fighter was kind of considered the pinnacle of what a 3D fighter should be. One match is just 60 seconds, and within that time frame, you had many different instances in which you and your opponent are almost in a rock-paper-scissors match. The way you're reading your opponent, you make a choice and your opponent makes a choice. That would occur very frequently throughout a match. That was kind of considered the proper way to make a 3D fighter, and Tekken was headed in that direction a bit, but then we decided maybe it's too complex for some people.
We reduced the frequency of reading your opponent and those particular chess-like instances within a match. For example, in Tekken, there's not a big difference in reach between you and your opponent when characters are chosen. With Soulcalibur, a lot depended on the weapon; it could be a very long staff, it could be a dagger. So even if the position of you and your opponent is a certain space, a lot still depended on which weapon you had. All these things you have to consider when you play the game maybe make it a little bit more difficult to jump into than Tekken. So it could be that just [Tekken is] a little bit simpler and approachable.
Are there going to be any changes to the home version? What's going to drive people who've played a lot of the arcade version to pick up the home version?
Obviously we don't want to change the formula people expect. That said, with all the Tekken games, we always add extra content. One of the big features is the story mode, in addition to the arcade mode. Other modes, for example, consistent of some type of gallery that allow you to catch up on story elements of the past installments.
How did working with Unreal Engine 4 impact the development process?
In past Tekken games where we didn't use Unreal Engine, there was a major difference in that we had much less time to actually do game design. When we submitted our documents to a programmer, we had to wait quite some time before we actually saw our work on screen.
Being able to use Unreal Engine and to have our work and the graphics appear relatively quick gave us much more time to work and focus on the actual game design elements. It also makes it easier to port to different platforms.
What is the driving force behind bringing it to PC? Do you expect a sizable audience on PC?
Before, we used to do a lot for Sony's hardware first. The hurdle to porting to PC afterward was quite high at that time. Since we're developing the game on PC from the start using Unreal Engine, it made it much easier to release a PC version. There are also many markets in which many gamers prefer PC rather than console.
Have you considered incorporating PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox Scorpio support for the game?
Those platforms are relatively new as far as what we know about them and what's been released publicly about them. It's hard to comment on that right now.
So, no Nintendo Switch version to reveal?
We're quite surprised by the Nintendo Switch announcement; read into that what you like.
Street Fighter’s Akuma has been part of the lead up for Tekken 7; he was featured in the E3 trailer, for example. Do you see further crossover characters in the core series? Was there experimenting in Tekken X Street Fighter that provided some inspiration?
Akuma may be a special case. It’s not like other games where we take the character and put him in the character lineup and that's it. He's actually part of the story and the game--not just the backstory but actually in the story mode itself. It might be interesting to include some other guest characters, if there was one that really clicked and could bring in a new audience. But at the moment, it's not something we're actively thinking about.
As far as Tekken X Street Fighter: not much tie over between Akuma and that game. Akuma was a thought that actually occurred much earlier when we first were discussing Street Fighter X Tekken. Afterward, we thought right away that it would be cool to bring Akuma into Tekken.
Are there any plans to continue development on Tekken X Street Fighter, or is it something you're not thinking about right now?
Stay tuned!
You mentioned the story mode is going to be a very important part of the home version. With that in mind, how does Tekken 7 further develop its characters?
In typical story modes in other fighting games, you merely load the game, each character says one or two lines to each other before the battle, then you go into the standard battle with the timer from the same position all the time. All the same rules apply from them fighting.
We tried to change that, so the circumstances at the beginning of the fight might change: the relation of you to your opponent distance-wise, maybe your health or the status of the stage. All these things were done to make the game feel very immersive. Whatever is going on in the cinematics shifts straight into the in-game scene, and then straight into the gameplay itself. You're not thrown into the standard battle. That's really what we focus on changing this time for story mode.
Tekken has always included a diverse set of characters with different nationalities, playing into the game’s theme of the King of Iron Fist Tournament. How important has it been to create and maintain diversity in Tekken's cast?
It's probably because we take different approaches to designing new characters. It's not the same every time. For example, some of the ideas might come from the animators because there are certain animations, fighting styles, martial arts, or something that they focus on first and flesh out the character from there. It could also be that the planner comes up with a certain look for a character they want to show off, or a game designer wants a character from a particular region. For example, Shaheen from the Middle East.
Sometimes it comes from the designers who actually draw the character. Since we don't take the same path for every character, perhaps it’s one reason why there is such diversity in the lineup.

Tekken 7 for PS4, Xbox One and PC Gets New Trailer; Shows Cutscenes and Gameplay
Tekken 7‘s arcade version was released almost two years ago, with the first cabinets becoming available in Japan on March 18th, 2015, but fighting game fans are still waiting for the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions coming early next year.
Today, to celebrate the Golden Joystick Awards, Bandai Namco released a new trailer of the game, showing off both cutscenes and gameplay.
Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date, but I have a feeling that it has to come soon. “Early 2017” isn’t all that far, after all. Maybe we’ll hear more at PlayStation Experience?

US-ONLY: 15% Off Tekken 7 Pre-Order at Amazon
An interesting deal popped up today for people in the US. Amazon is right now shaving 15% off the full $60 price tag of Tekken 7 to anyone pre-ordering the game. No one knows how long the deal will last but this is a good chance for US gamers to get $9 off the initial price. I'm not sure what sort of pre-order bonuses will appear later on for those interested but you can always cancel your pre-order if something more intersting comes that tickles your fancy appear in the future.

TEKKEN 7 - Kuma / Panda Character Reveal Trailer Just revealed on the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2016 Grand Finals stream. The beloved comic relief animal characters from the Tekken series, Kuma and Panda will be in Tekken 7. According to what was shared on the stream, Panda and Kuma are not palette swaps and have their own distinct visual appearance as well as their own Rage Art animations. ▌TEKKEN 7 - Kuma / Panda Trailer ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Console / PC Versions of Tekken 7 is Getting An Online Tournament Mode Also unveiled during the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2016 Tekken stream is news that the Console / PC version of Tekken 7 will have an online tournament mode. This mode will allow players to set up and play each other online (Max of 8 players total per tournament) with a format used in actual offline tournaments. It supports single & double elimination brackets and includes player spectating and voice chat. In game prizes can also be allocated to the winners of the tournament with stuff like gold and items. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TEKKEN 7 Collaboration With New Japan Pro Wrestling Features Champion Kazuchika Okada In addition to the announcement of Kuma, Panda, and Online Tournament mode for the upcoming console version of TEKKEN 7, a collaboration with TEKKEN and New Japan Pro Wrestling was also announced at the King of Iron Fist 2016 Global Finals! The trailer below reveals this collaboration and features NJPW champion, Kazuchika Okada! The trailer briefly shows off a new TEKKEN 7 outfit for King based on Okada's iconic ring attire. FUN FACT: One of King's new moves in TEKKEN 7 is the "Rainmaker," made famous by Kazuchika Okada (one of his finishing moves). And in case you've been living under a rock, King pays homage to many specific moves and wrestling holds of real life pro-wrestlers. Are Bullet Club shirts or Shinsuke Nakamura-inspired attire in the works as well? No other specific content besides the Okada / King costume is 100% confirmed so far, but one would think this collaboration would include more than just one wrestler. Did anybody here use this service and enjoy it? I've played games with the free models but I always had the full version. I have played Tekken Revolution, especially when I was unlocking Eliza and her various costumes (which the grinding is very heavy since you get little blood seal points) which I got as far as the character, swimsuits, and big breast. Big breast swimsuit is the only one I didn't unlock. Here are how many blood seal points: 20,000: Unlock Eliza 70,000: Alternate Costume 1 (Swimsuit Set) 70,000: Alternate Costume 2 (Enlarged Breasts) 140,000: Alternate Costume 3 (Swimsuit Set w/Enlarged Breasts)

Tekken Series Producer Harada Says About 95% Of Its Sales Come From Outside Japan Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada didn’t have any teasers to share in 4Gamer’s year-end talk with developers, but he had some interesting stuff to say about his fighting game series’ sales. Here’s the quote about Tekken sales from Harada: “More than anything, 2017 is about the release of Tekken 7. Of the 44 million units in total console sales throughout the entire Tekken series, 95% of it actually comes from foreign countries, in the order of Europe > United States > Asia Oceania > Japan.” “In other words, main-numbered titles have sales that can exceed 3 million overseas, but I don’t think any fighting game sells that much in Japan, but it doesn’t feel that way, right? That said, even with all the hype going on, the gap in sales figure for Japan is just too wide.” “However, this time for Tekken 7 I hope that we can liven things up not only overseas but in Japan as well, so please support it by all means (also to support a game born in Japan!). By enjoying the story mode you can learn about Tekken controls, then make a room to play with friends, and we’re also adding the series’ first tournament mode, so by all means, players of Japan, whether it’s by yourself or with a group, I hope to see things liven up! Please continue your support!” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Console Tekken 7 Build Featured in Italian Battle Dome Event Heads-up to everyone in the region, the Tekken Milano group is organizing a FG event called Battle Dome and they're able to announce that Tekken 7 will be playable. Not only that though, but also that Tekken 7 over there will be using the latest updated PS4 version of the game. For those that haven't been keeping up with the game, that means that both Lee & Miguel who were previously announced for the console versions of Tekken 7 will be playable there before the game comes out. Battle Dome is taking place in Milan, Italy on the 11th of February and further details on the event can be found on the Tekken Milano Facebook page. There was no news to come from the recent Nintendo Switch Presentation on Tekken 7 there after speculations began stirring after the Nintendo Switch Hori arcade stick images began circulating online. The source of the above comment comes from BNEAU's facebook reply in the announcement post for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 getting a Nintendo Switch version. You'd think they'd cater to western audiences more knowing this, but Japan's going to Japan lol.

Tekken 7: Fated Retribution console release date coming next week Tekken 7 saw its initial Japanese arcade release back in March of 2015. Since then, the game has seen a large-scale update in Fated Retribution. Fans have been anxiously awaiting information on the game's console release, and based on a recent tweet from Tekken Game Designer Michael Murray, the wait shouldn't be much longer. One Twitter follower asked Murray when the release date will be unveiled, to which he replied "next week". Last month, Bandai Namco noted that fans should look forward to the game's console release date being revealed in January. The wait is almost over, folks, just hang tight. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lee / Miguel Build of Tekken 7 Playable at York Street Battles in Sydney The latest build of Tekken 7 on PS4 is making its way across to multiple places and more events have now started coming forward and confirming the new Tekken 7 build as making an appearance. Check Out 7 Hours of the Latest Tekken 7 Console Build from Copenhagen FGC
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/copenhagenfgc/JoyousGorillaFailFish
Now here's a better stream to check out the Tekken 7 PS4 build with. The Copenhagen FGC got their hands on the latest build which includes both Lee & Miguel and streamed 7 whole hours from it. I'm sure veteran Lee & Miguel players will be combing through this archive for any character changes coming into the game. It's also good to check up on how the current build is doing.

Tekken 7 at Taipei Game Show 2017 with Harada, Murray & Gamerbee
Tekken 7 was featured during Bandai Namco's stage show from Taipei Game Show 2017 today and Tekken project members Harada and Murray were there joined by Gamerbee to show off the game. Absolutely new information wasn't given for the game as expected since we're getting more news on the game in the coming week but little bits and pieces I guess you can say were there. Another avenue to look at the console version on stream with Gamerbee trying Akuma.

Summary of notables:
In Tekken 7's Story Mode, 'either Heihachi or Kazuya must die.' The load times for Tekken 7 is still fairly long but they're still working on shortening it. Tekken 7's Release Date is coming in a few more days.
