A new installment in the Dead or Alive Xtreme series has been officially announced. Famitsu reports that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will be released in Japan and Asia on both PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

The Dead or Alive Xtreme series takes characters from the popular fighting franchise, and drops them onto a tropical island where they can partake in a variety of different recreational activities such as volleyball, modeling, and more. Each version of the third installment will have a unique subtitle: Fortune (PS4) and Venus (Vita).



The developers are using the Soft Engine 2.0 for Xtreme 3, and its ability to provide finer details will allow for such effects as "vastly improved suntans."

Although the female characters in the Dead or Alive franchise are most popular, not all of them will appear in the new Xtreme title.

According to an interview with DoA producer Yosuke Hayashi, beginning August 20th, 15 custom themes featuring different female fighters will become available for download. The nine most highly downloaded will determine the characters in the game.

Koei Tecmo stated that the game could see a western release if there is enough demand.

Since nothing new on this topic was created, here is a bit of an update on whats been going on:
During Tokyo Game Show, Team Ninja revealed that the upcoming title for PS4 would support Sony's upcoming PlayStation VR, a virtual reality headset. Though we don't know how, or to what degree, developers plan to implement this technology into their game.
Here are the results for our Top 9 characters that will be in the game:
1st Marie Rose
2nd Honoka
3rd Kasumi
4th Ayane
5th Kokoro
6th Nyotengu
7th Hitomi
8th Momiji
9th Helena
There was some information that were found in gnn.gamer.com.tw/6/121226.html which was in chinese: After they announced DoA X3, a few days later the American/Eu distributors voiced their worries.
Due to those Western countries having their own standards, KT is not gonna even bother with that for now to focus on the much more lenient Japan/Asia market standards for release.
The Kasumi screenshots was solely made for having a character be shown for promotion placeholder purposes because otherwise they couldn't even show any characters.
On the remote chance that Kasumi didn't make the top 9 then what little of her was completed would be scrapped.
They got a lot of interest for VR support so they decided to do it which was what Hayashi announced at the end of first stream
PS4 will be Soft Skin 2.0 while Vita will be Soft Skin Lite. Both versions of the game are basically the same, but their respective engines are specifically tailored for their respective platforms. Both versions will also take advantage of their own unique characteristics.
The vote was for the complete version of the game. Insists there are currently no plans for dlc characters. That will be based on player feedback/support.
Hayashi acknowledged that their vote style was pretty much how a certain Japanese Idol group did it, but said it was different in two ways.
1. Wanted to get real feedback/opinions from the real players through this method
2. Wanted to sell nice themes because they feel too many people are still on the default.

I could have sworn I made a thread or post about this, it was for console Japan. I was pondering if it was going to be o PC, if they put this on there and pushed it to the limit, I would be interested on what they could pull off.

Sorry about that, part of the post was being stupid. Anyway here what I was trying to type.

Well you pretty much created this thread when it was announced, and I wanted to fill the stuff that hasn't been mentioned along with what I saw in siliconera. So I pretty much created this post and will try to find more information for DOAX3.

Lei Fang had some competition with Helena, Momiji, & Hitomi while Tina, Mila, Rachel, Lisa, & Christie were unfortunately screwed. There were times where she was part of Top 9, but at the very end didn't make it.

Last time you made this thread, all there pretty much was what was going on around Aug. 18 2015 and there weren't anything else going on. I actually was thinking about covering some DOA news for this community, which I had to look through what Eventhubs mention, the posts I watched from FreeStepDodge, and trying to find a better picture for Marie Rose & Honoka in the lastest week's issue of Famitsu magazine.

Lei Fang's chances over Honoka is very unlikely (she was as popular as our 1st place girl Marie Rose), Lei Fang could've been in 9th place but since she had competition with Helena (which she took 9th place instead), Hitomi, & Momiji she sadly didn't make it. From what I've heard, DOAX3 is working with a small budget (since Koei Tecmo tends to treat DOA like its not that important when it comes to resources) and could only afford 9 characters. Which the only way for your character to be in DOAX3 was voting by via purchase themes for PS4 & PSVita you only had one choice, this is only for PSN Japan since DOAX3 is currently being Japan & Asia Exclusive.

Koei Tecmo revealed their collector's edition for both PS4 & PSVita which includes:

DOAX3 Fortune: The PlayStation 4 game, Xtreme Sexy Costume Set (nine total), Gravure photo book “Fortune” (48 pages), “Fortune” playing cards, & Marie Rose Xtreme 3D mouse pad.

DOAX3 Venus: The PlayStation Vita game, Xtreme Sexy Costume Set (nine total), Gravure photo book “Venus” (48 pages), “Venus” playing cards, Honoka Xtreme 3DS mouse pad.

Price for PS4 collectors edition will be 13,800 yen (plus tax) & PSVita collectors edition will be 12,800 yen (plus tax).

There is Strongest Package (29,800 yen, Amazon Japan and Gamecity-Exclusive): Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune Collector’s Edition (PS4), Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Venus Collector’s Edition (PS Vita), B2 Extreme Extreme Bath Posters (x9).

The game takes place on Zack Island, where the heroines will enjoy all kinds of different activities such as “Water Tug of War,” “Beach Flags,” “Hopping Game” and more. The girls will have all kinds of different bathing suits, which are said to “bring a fresh new feeling” to these activities.

Team Ninja introduced the “Soft Engine” for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, which was made for visual enhancements to make skin look softer and more realistic. With Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune for PS4, the engine is getting a 2.0 update, and they say that it’ll look even more realistic than ever.

As for the PlayStation Vita version, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Venus, it’ll use a customized “Soft Engine Lite,” which will feature uses of the touch panel and gyro sensor.

Hayashi is doing alot better with the render of the girls versus Itagaki. During the 360 era of Team ninja when Itagaki was still around the games looked so bad. So, Glad he took over but he needs to fix Ninja Gaiden as well.

Yea, back when they had the Barbie look with the flat butts. Technology has moved forward and thankfully they have too.

I hope they bring Ninja Gaiden back to its roots and put it on PC as well.

I love the dude, but he was doing some crazy things with Team Ninja. DOA 5 Kasumi and this one are the best she's looked since DOA 3.

Shame he didn't want to improve her since he saw her as his daughter. Games need to be updated, and with DoA being sold on its visual appeal it's suicidal not to anyways. Especially when you have so much competition.

Everyone hated that game, DOA 5 is arguably one of the best. I remember Perfect Legend talking about it.

Anyway, on topic. What's this I hear about this game not coming to Europe and America. That's gonna a dark sign if it's true.
