SNK Releases Original King of Fighters XIV Digital Comic Book On the KOF WORLD Facebook page, SNK announced the release of an original comic that is set in the world of The King of Fighters XIV. The digital issues is 10 pages long and seems to depict a casual meeting between the members of Team Psycho Soldier (Chin, Kensou and Athena) and Team China (Tung Fu Rue, Shun’ei and Meitenkun), with Master Tung Fu Rue serving as host. The comic is currently available in four different translations: Japanese, Korean and two versions of both traditional and simplified Chinese. No word on an English version yet, but it is notable that SNK seems to be, in this case, catering to their different language demographics. The comments on the original Facebook post also seem to indicate a demand for Portuguese and Spanish translations, which isn’t unreasonable considering The King of Fighters’ prominent Latin fan base. For those who are able to read Japanese, Korean or Chinese, you can read the comic here. www.comic-clear.jp/comic.aspx?c=64Source: shoryuken

The King of Fighters XIV World Championship Announcement: New DLC Costumes, Characters, & Stages! The King of Fighters XIV World Championship just went down in Tokyo; aside from the tournament itself, many were excited for an expected big reveal at some point during the event, and thankfully we were not disappointed. There was an announcement that Classic Iori would be available Febuary 23rd, but the most eventful news was that there will be 3 new costumes, 2 new stages, and several new characters were on their way. While no solid release date was given, the costumes were said to be available “Spring,” so the wait shouldn’t be too long. You can see the alt costumes below. Meitenkun’s Pillow transforms into a stuffed cat doll, while Sylvie’s purse transforms into a tiny wolf bag. Kula doesn’t seem to get any noticeable model additions aside from the dress (though we do get a clear look at her normally-covered hands), and Angel gets darker skin and horns along with her attire. The stages that were announced can be seen in the slideshow below. These are said to be free for all users, and feature one train-themed Mount Rushmore stage, while another features what looks like a section on a race track. As for the new characters, our best look at them is this silhouette. It’s anyone’s guess who they are presently, but more details should be released next month. While at first glance it appears to be 3 characters, it may in fact be 4 new additions; you can most easily see this by counting the number of left legs you see on the right side of the image (there appear to be 3) and then of course the character crouching on the left side of the image. While it’s hard to make out right now, that hasn’t stopped fans from outlining who they believe to be hidden in this image: Source: shoryuken

Ryuji Yamazaki throws down as the second DLC character for The King of Fighters XIV Following the announcement of Whip earlier this month, Atlus and SNK have now revealed that psychopathic gangster Ryuji Yamazaki will be joining The King of Fighters XIV as its second DLC character. First introduced in Fatal Fury 3, Yamazaki fights like a man possessed: using his self-taught fighting style, elongated arms, and explosive headbutts to dominate his opponent. As someone with no restraint, Yamazaki’s supers are quite unhinged to say the least. One of them has him picking up random objects from the stage scenery–including a big tuna–and belting his opponent over the head with them. Combine that with his blood-based projectiles, and you have one crazy fighter. With Whip becoming available April 5th, Yamazaki shouldn’t be that far behind–along with the next DLC fighter for SNK’s fighting franchise. Source: shoryuken (info) & eventhubs (images)

RUMOR: Rock Howard coming to King of Fighters 14, the internet is going crazy over the potential leak King of Fighters fans can't contain their excitement over a potential leak pertaining to the 14th numbered game in the series. A photo that shows Rock Howard on King of Fighters 14's character select screen has been making the rounds on social media today. This image is being considered a possible leak of the game's fourth DLC character, though that has yet to be officially confirmed. You can check out the Rock Howard photo below. According to reports, the leak was initially posted on Twitter by one of the King of Fighters competitive scene's top players. Users of the social media platform say that the tweet was deleted shortly after, but not before others grabbed the photo and started sharing it. Not long after the image hit the internet, the Deputy General Manager of SNK's Game Division Yasuyuki Oda sent out a cryptic status update on Facebook. Clearly upset at something, fans believe this is directly related to the leak, giving a bit more weight it its potential credibility. On the plus side, the community seems to be ecstatic over the news of Rock Howard's possible inclusion in King of Fighters 14. Nearly every tweet posted on the subject (that I have seen) has been met with a slew of positive replies. SNK has been on a roll with their DLC character choice so far. Whip, Yamazaki, and Vanessa -- the three out of four DLC characters set to be added to the game that have been officially revealed so far -- have been very well received by the fighting game community. As with any rumor, it is important to reiterate that this news has not been confirmed just yet. If SNK continues with their pattern of Wednesday character reveals, though, we should know if Rock is the final of the four DLC fighters by tomorrow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ First match footage of Yamazaki in King of Fighters 14 - watch him kick dirt, deflect projectiles, and screech his way to victory Last week, we saw the unveiling of Yamazaki, King of Fighters 14's second DLC fighter. One of the company's official YouTube channels has uploaded the first actual match footage featuring the character. This video gives us a quick glimpse at how Yamazaki's playstyle translates into a real bout. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- New King of Fighters 14 footage showcases Vanessa's impressive combo game So Vanessa was announced as a DLC character for King of Fighters 14 recently. Get a behind-the-scenes look at how SNK’s Eisuke Ogura creates art for The King of Fighters XIV
Aside from its unique 3-on-3 elimination-based combat, SNK’s The King of Fighters series has also been known for impressive official art, from different artists throughout the years. Currently, the art for The King of Fighters XIV is drawn by Eisuke Ogura, who’s best known for working as the main character illustrator for NEO GEO Battle Coliseum, as well as helping in the other numbered KOF installments.
To give fans a short glimpse of how Ogura works, SNK recently released a new video showing his digital illustration process. The art itself below is a special piece commissioned to celebrate the birthday of series anti-hero Iori Yagami, and serves to demonstrates the unique style that Ogura brings to the series.

Get a taste of the new music tracks coming to The King of Fighters XIV
The King of Fighters XIV’s upcoming version 2.0 update is going to bring with it new stages and DLC characters; however, it seems that that SNK has a bit more in store for series fans, as they will also be adding in some classic music tracks to the game.
SNK has recently shared a new trailer showcasing samples of these classic music tracks. For those wondering what the tracks are, these are A Kiss for Geese, Cyber Edit (from Art of Fighting 2, which likely means it’ll play when Geese and Ryo face off), Pasta (from Fatal Fury 2), as well as Billy Kane’s theme London March.

The King of Fighters XIV’s version 2.0 patch is now live; SNK shares the balance change details
Alongside the new stages, music tracks, and DLC characters, The King of Fighters XIV’s version 2.0 patch (available to download now!) brings with it a host of updates to the game and its balance.
The version 2.0 update features some changes to training and story modes, as well as a number of bug fixes all around. The bulk of the changes, however, are to the game’s characters, altering the overall balance. A big part of the balance update involves giving the characters individual health values–characters now have different health levels, instead of everyone having 1000 health like before. On the flipside, each character’s run speed after a Quick MAX activation is now the same. Each character also sees a number of significant changes to their move properties, in an effort to compress the game’s tier list; while the game isn’t badly balanced (and nowhere near as problematic as the previous KOF game), some characters have become conspicuous either by their prevalence at–or absence from–tournaments.
Functionality Modifications / Corrections
・Updated the SNK logo when launching the game. ・Improved training mode functionality: Added multiple recording slots, random play and REVERSAL recording & play. ・Improved training mode functionality: Added "limitless" setting for "1P Max Mode Gauge" and "2P Max Mode Gauge". ・During the 4th and 8th stages of the Story Mode, the opposing team will consist of at least one DLC character and one of the newly released stages will be selected. ・When an opponent is KO'd, the game will stop for a brief instant to highlight the KO. ・Video sharing and screenshot functions can now be used in all modes. ・Other minor bug fixes. ・Improved room searching functionality for Free Match. ・6 player colors are now available in Party Battle. ・Adjusted the attribution of points for "Rank33". ・The process by which the system judges disconnection penalties has been adjusted to be stricter. ・Added a page-turning function for the selection of titles in MY PROFILE. ・Netcode improvements.
Bug fixes
General
・Unified all characters’ movement speed after Quick Max activation. ・Removed throw invincibility that was present from the start of the guard until the opponent blocks. ・Fixed an issue where it was possible to perform a special attack by canceling the landing recovery after a jump without attacking. ・Adjusted characters' collision detection. ・Adjusted characters' stamina.
