The pretty boy bishies are all the rage nowadays since they attract female gamers as well. I don't know what 'bishie' means. Does it mean 'guy who looks like girl'? Something like that. tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Bishonen

Oh man, anime's weird...
It's a shame (IMO) that the newer Zelda games look so much more anime now. I don't like it.

Oh man, anime's weird... It's a shame (IMO) that the newer Zelda games look so much more anime now. I don't like it. It's because graphic have gotten good to the point where they can render the characters in a way they really look like. One reason why Japanese games were successful in the older days was because you didn't get much aesthetically variety with simplified 2-D sprites. As technology got better, the developers began to create characters more to form that match what they wanted and they became less and less simplified. But, also, less and less universal. Here's an example:

Well, at the very least, I hope Nintendo allows first time players the ability to adjust difficulty. Why people have to endure an obscenely dull, insanely simple game just to play the more challenging mode is beyond me.

I hope they don't do the usual crap when they just add more damage. I hate that lazy difficulty.

Super Mario World could be breezed through in about 15 minutes if you just wanted to see the end, but there were a good amount of secrets that were fairly challenging. Also, collecting all 5 dragon coins actually meant searching everywhere in a level, as opposed to modern Mario games where the star coins couldn't be more obviously placed.

Hell yeah, I'm a platformer junkie, I love them to bits. Super Meat Boy and Ms. Splosion Man are my favourite platformers, though I'm going to try DK Country Returns and Shovel Knight soon, hopefully they're awesome games too.

I've got Sonic Generations and Sonic 3 and Knuckles on my Steam, so I'm going to give those a shot when I grab a controller for my computer. (Likely the X1 controller, because of the + shaped Dpad and buttons that aren't as squishy as the 360's)

Exploration, lots of hidden stuff, very fun gameplay. Have fun unlocking their ultimate forms, which you can play throughout the game btw.

This is probably PM material, but I'm actually super glad that you just believe me at face value. I've been labelled a troll by fanboys because I said modern Nintendo games are too easy.

Naah, it's just fanboy defense. Apparently the cure for insomnia that is Super Mario 3D Land is difficult according to them. The Mario and Luigi RPG series is also 'tough'. I guess I shouldn't take what fanboys say to heart, but I definitely appreciate the civil company here.

Yeah, thanks.
Anyways, the split between virtual console releases on the 3DS and Wii U pisses me off, Nintendo's shoddy 3rd party support makes me sad and their over reliance on Mario / Zelda also bothers me.
You know what else? Both the Wii U and 3DS released with a complete drought of games. Why not delay the console release until you can launch with a good selection of games? This ain't their first offence, either, the Wii had a LONG drought of good games as well (as did the PS3 on its launch too).

You might as well take the Nintendo part out. Games now are way easier than they were before. They release stuff because of deadlines and attracting fans with the "latest thing", regardless if the games are good or not.

Games like Super Mario 3D World and 3D Land are getting 9's and 10's from website reviews and are being praised as excellent games, so there's always more incentive for people to buy them.

That's one thing that annoys me. These review companies are extremely biased and will pump out good reviews to get paid/or more access to more games. That's why I look for an aggregate of reviews if possible or I just go off of a video or something. It's hard to trust those now. Thankfully I know what I like though. I have a game review section here if you ever get the itch.

See, you're doing research. The average fanboy / typical consumer won't bother, they'll look at IGN, see a 9/10 for any major Mario / Zelda and buy it. I won't be too harsh, Mario and Zelda games are well-made games, even modern ones. It's just that they've become too same-y now, considering there's not much more they can do. I don't see too many ways standard Mario could feel fresh (probably why they're releasing a Mario-Maker game, let the fans make their own damned Mario games).

Well Mario and Zelda are solid, but they aren't instant 9's and 10's. The problem is that more popular and "legendary" games get high scores by default. They'd never give a Mario or CoD a low score anyways. They don't want to hurt their kickbacks or whatever else. They know high reviews means money for these companies and they're in their pockets.

I've played a few LoZ's and while they're well made, I don't see the hype behind them. I don't see why a completely bland hero running through an empty world doing the same song and dance attracts such a ridiculous fanbase. I'm sorry, that's very negative, but not many of the LoZ's are actually very fun to me. The combat is dull and repetitive, the puzzles don't deserve to be called 'puzzles' - usually you drag a block to designated spot, look around the room for an eyeball switch, kill a bunch of enemies, or look for a switch to stand on / put something on.
I should mention that I've played: OoT3D, OoT3D master quest, WW, Minish Cap, TP and aLBW.
