I've played a few LoZ's and while they're well made, I don't see the hype behind them. I don't see why a completely bland hero running through an empty world doing the same song and dance attracts such a ridiculous fanbase. I'm sorry, that's very negative, but not many of the LoZ's are actually very fun to me. The combat is dull and repetitive, the puzzles don't deserve to be called 'puzzles' - usually you drag a block to designated spot, look around the room for an eyeball switch, kill a bunch of enemies, or look for a switch to stand on / put something on. I should mention that I've played: OoT3D, OoT3D master quest, WW, Minish Cap, TP and aLBW. A strong opinion. Zelda had a strong fanbase (much like Metroid) mainly from their older games. The exploration and gameplay was one of a kind back then. Nowadays it's nothing special. Same thing with Mario and Sonic. Very great in the past, but not so special now. They hang on because of the fans they have from the olden days mainly.

I won't lie, I play MArio and Zelda games because they've sorta been grandfathered into my taste. They are "well made" but, I did critisize them heavily because it's the samething.

Yeah, but I do sincerely hope that the new Zelda can actually shake things up for the better. I would LOVE to be proven wrong, and I hope that the new Zelda has enough interesting gameplay changes so that I'm forced to eat my words.

Gaming reviews are joke, btw. Most of the reason they give scores are so superficial.

Gaming reviews are joke, btw. Most of the reason they give scores are so superficial. They also have the "nothing lower than 7.0" phenomenon where they rarely give anything lower than a 7 to avoid offending the people who fill their pockets. Better watching a gameplay vid or something. Reviews are for casuals and people who don't know any better.

I honestly watch reviews more for entertainment than actual content. I find stuff like Zero Punctuation awesome because of all the weird jokes Yahtzee makes and how generally cynical he is.

Yeah, I'm the same. I'm always researching the latest Mario and Zelda games because I'm always interested in seeing what they're doing.

I don't own a Wii U as of yet, let me get this out of the way (I will get one when Smash 4 drops and will pick up Smash 4, Bayo 2, Wonderful 101 and Splatoon).
I have played this game a bit, and I'm not really convinced, but I can see a bit of good in it. The cat suit design I absolutely dislike, but its function is actually interesting, allowing Mario and company to scale walls for the first time ever. This comes with the caveat of being introduced in the post-Wii era, so this means that pretty much every collectible is going to be up on a wall somewhere that you can scale.
The game's 4 player simultaneous gameplay never really appealed to me. First, I game alone, and many of my friends are a bit far away from me, so a lot of the game's appeal is lost on me should I buy it for myself. Secondly, the screen has to focus on everyone at once, so there will be a lot of conflicts of interest. One player may rush into a pipe, advancing everybody into the next section of the level when other players could have wanted to look for green stars.

I've played new super mario wii with 4 players. It's a mess, but fun. I think this might be a little more organized. Multiplayer platforming is pretty good. This is one of the better platformers imo.

You ever play Ms. Splosion Man, Super Meat Boy or DKCR?

Those are my favourite platformers by far and away, I hope one day you'll try some of them out. Ms. Splosion Man even has a co-op mode as well.

It's got an excellent learning curve, easing players into the game, but then it actually challenges you. The main thing I like about the game is that no matter how obscenely difficult any challenge is, it's completely fair. The game demands near perfection from you by the later chapter dark worlds, it's amazing.

I like extremely hard difficulty as long as it isn't cheap or fake difficulty. I don't like that at all.
