A bit old, but OOT fanboys are the worst. Yes they are. Nintendo fanboys tend to be pretty rabid. I always had a soft spot for Link to the Past.

Have you played Skyward sword? I disliked it at first, but it grew on me with time. As far as 3D Zeldas are concerned it's the best.

What makes you think it's the best? Although I wouldn't go off what the masses say in regards to quality without an in depth explanation. That said it doesn't the game is bad either.

The masses got lucky this time. I used to dislike Skyward sword too, but then I played it. It's good because the gameplay specifically the combat is amazing. It's like a fighting game, you even have a shield counter but you need to time it. You can't just slash your enemy, you have to hit each enemy in a specific way or you won't take any damage or you'll be punished. Admittedly, the controls can be irresponsive if you're swinging too hard. But, the combat is so satisfying.

It's not an improvement of a formula so much as it's a new formula completely. Granted, the game is alot more linear. The gameplay is really trying to do something new and succeeds.

I'm not a fan of making things more linear unless the stuff that wasn't linear wasn't necessary. What did you feel was greatly improved compared to OOT?

The exploration isn't good, I agree with the guy on that. But, where I disagree is the combat. Dude claims all you have to do in Skyward sword is slash like crazy and you'll beat your opponents. Then claims to combat is shallow, what a moron.

So you're saying it's more deep or less deep than OOT? Combat wise? It's more deep, if you ever get a chance to play Skyward Sword. Take note of the fight game like mechanics like counters and Guard meter. When I first played Skyward Sword I was dying alot because I presumed it was like OOT where I could slash through everything. Like, compare a lizalos from OOT to SS:

Every time you block the meter goes down [It doesn't fill up unless you have a special shield]. If it empties, your shield is gone. The only way to block without losing meter is to counter. Also, the lizalos can only be hurt if you attack from his unguarded spot. Nevermind the cursed lizalos that puts a hex on you and you can't use your sword if you're hit.

Pretty much, most standard shields including the one that fills meter once broken require you to purchase another one. You can't sit and block like in the older games. Also, countering puts the enemy in a special hit-stun animation that you can take advantage of. They even have a finisher for downed enemies. OOT has none of this, that's why I'm legitmately surprised that the dude claimed the combat was shallow in SS.
Mind you, I didn't like SS at first. I used to bash the wii on KMC if you remember, called it a gimmick. So, I'm not being a fanboy. I just know when I'm wrong.

It's like that in TMNT to some extent, but more fighting based.

If motion control is used like this then I think it will be good. Either, they made a believer out of me.

I'm getting a Wii U soon. PS4 and X-Box one, I dunno. More and more PC ports are coming out of games I like. I might not have to buy consoles anymore. But, Nintendo consoles tend to be different because of the big proprietary connection bewtween their hardware and software [Wii motion control, wii pad and so forth] that makes them valuable. While X-box and PS are glorified PC.

I have a gaming desktop/laptop and as you said they're getting more ports and now even fighters. I've stopped gaming as much and started doing art so to pay for a console would be silly for me.

I think it will be mobile/pc soon. Pc's are just too versatile and price friendly. Consoles are just easy to use.

I think nintendo will last, but consoles are on their way out. How is Nintendo doing vs the consoles now? It doesn't have the big graphics the casuals love but it hits the super casuals well with family games. It doesn't have some of the big genres heavily on it though. Might be like the Sega and just make games for other platforms.

Well, Wii was their most and the most successful console of last Gen. Wii U on the other hand is the biggest bust since Virtual boy. I like the current nintendo, though. I used to not like them, but I've had more satisfying experiences with them versus the other consoles.

I used to not like them, but I've had more satisfying experiences with them versus the other consoles. Wii had the advantage of PS3 being godly expensive and Xbox360 was decent but the Wii offered casual stuff which appealed to a ton of people. Nintendo's best was the SNES IMO. That thing had so many great games. I have no problems against consoles, more against their fanboys but that's another issue.

Well, Wii was their most and the most successful console of last Gen. Wii U on the other hand is the biggest bust since Virtual boy. I like the current nintendo, though. I used to not like them, but I've had more satisfying experiences with them versus the other consoles. Nintendo's best was the SNES IMO. That thing had so many great games. YESSS. I've been with Nintendo for a very long time, and I was happiest with their games on the SNES and the Gamecube. The SNES big 3 (Mario, Zelda, Metroid) games were fantastic in their own rights. Super Mario World was an excellent platformer that offered entertainment for veteran platformer players with the secret post-star road levels. I also loved the amount of horizontal control you had on Mario's jump, it felt so beautiful. Link to the Past was pretty good too. Some may not like the fact that it made LoZ linear for the rest of the series, but at least it had SOME exploration, which is more than can be said for Zelda games past that. Super Metroid was also a vast improvement on the NES Metroid for many reasons that I won't bother to gush over. The SNES era took the IPs from the NES and perfected them. The GC added very interesting twists to their big 3 franchises, and I enjoyed all of them. Sunshine's FLUDD and graffiti cleaning offered a fresh twist on Mario's typical fare. Wind Waker gave us a Link with some personality, which meant a lot to me. I hate every other Link, because they all have self-righteousness shoved so far up their asses. I like my characters flawed and brimming with personality, which Toon Link did very well. Metroid Prime's translation of Metroid to 3D was excellent as well (my favourite Nintendo series by far). The most important thing it did in my eyes was it made every part of the world interesting because of the very important scan visor. Now the Wii era disappointed me with all 3 of the big 3 franchises. Super Mario Galaxy took the 'open-ness' of SM64 and made it insanely linear. You just run along a set path until you see a star. Twilight Princess was more dull Link with an incoherent story. The less said about Metroid: Other M, the better (Prime 3 was a great game, though). Since then, I've been disappointed with Nintendo. All of their franchises are dull to me. They're all toned down and far too simple. I do suggest you two watch Egoraptor's Sequilitus, and we can discuss that.
